what heather said - Eragon was a fantastic story but the movie was pathetic in so many ways...lets just hope Weinstein do a better job than Fox did. I have high hopes for the Bartimaeus Trilogy =)

Hialarious, witty book. Good storyline. The entire trilogy, in fact, is superb. Let's hope they don't ruin this in the film like they did with Eragon.

This is the best trilogy I have read in a very long time. I can only hope that the movie can compare to the books. Work hard movie makers!

Quite possibly the best books ever written. Hopefully with good casting, and interesting editing, the movie will be the same.

The book is great, but, wait, it isn`t Underwood who is evil, he is just weak and scared. If you guys screw up the movie I will become very displeased.

I LOVED THE BOOKS!!! They are my absolute favourites! I hope the movie will be able to reach the high standard set by Jonathan Stroud...

If they mess up this book, i will never again watch another fantasy novel-turned-film. i wonder how they will play out the footnotes because that's one of the most amazing parts of the book. I'm pleasing with the film crew. don't turn this into another eragon.
posted by fortheloveofnateandb on Jun 08, 2009
I love the books, but how are they gonna get the "footnotes"? Those are the best part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
posted by Raven on Jun 25, 2009

Best book series I've ever read. I started reading them in 6th grade and finished them in 8th. I hope they turn this into a great movie. :)

Looks like their never going to make this. If they do it better be high quality. Perhaps footnotes should be modified and done in a voiceover as Bartimaeus' thoughts - not in a hokey way but a creative way. Underwood IS evil (but also weak), he trains a boy he knows was sold, he doesn't parent Nathaniel and barely shows him any sympathy. This makes it difficult for Nathaniel to know what is right and wrong. Helping to keep a system based on the selling of children and not protecting those children is wrong, not just weak. Although, hey should make sure Simon Lovelace is clearly an evil person. The first time I read it I imagined it as a movie. Amulet of Samarkand is so cool.

I give every movie an average rating till I see it or a trailer, so don't be offended other fans (I'm a fan too XD) but I doubt they'll make it a good movie, and I'm just waiting for the next book coming in the fall of 2010, as it said on the site
posted by Scythe on Oct 03, 2009
Also......why are you all giving the MOVIE good ratings while your saying it's gonna be bad, or are you giving it a good review because of how good the books are
posted by Scythe on Oct 03, 2009
Though the book is really great, I think it might be too complicated. It will never work - turning this book into a film... but I sure will enjoy the time before I've seen it, when I'm still unknowing and hopeful!
posted by Mrs Underwood on Oct 04, 2009
i hope that they do this book justice as it's one of my favourites. it's a shame because all of the books i would like to adapt are already planned to be adapted. grr.
posted by greenbean on Oct 16, 2009
The first book was GREAT!! one of my favorites, but I hope they don't combine all three books into the movie. I couldn't even get past the third book and forced myself through the second....
