Zac Efron's '17 Again' Takes Over North American Box Office

Zac Efron has got another #1 feature film on his sleeves as his latest comedy "17 Again" debuted atop the North American box office over the three-day weekend. Opened to a $9.5 million bow on Friday, April 17, the Burr Steers-directed movie went on to collect $23.7 million from approximately 4,200 screens at 3,255 sites.

Scoring nearly $4 million more than expected, the movie about a 37-year-old man getting another chance at life when he is transformed back to the age of 17 has exceeded analysts' box-office projections around the low $20 million. This film, in addition, marked the third #1 bow for Disney's star Efron following 2007's "Hairspray" and 2008's "High School Musical 3: Senior Year".

The Los Angeles premiere of "17 Again" has become the event for young and old. On Tuesday, April 14, the special screening for the upcoming comedy was held at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California, and saw the attendance of many celebrities from teenage sensation Jonas Brothers to former "Friends" star Matthew Perry.

Coming to the premiere were most of the film's cast, including Perry, Zac Efron, Michelle Trachtenberg, Leslie Mann, Melora Hardin, Hunter Parrish, Katerina Graham and Nicole Sullivan. They were joined by producer Adam Shankman and director Burr Steers on the red carpet.

A series of "17 Again" pictures has made its way out for public viewing. Nine in total, the fresh stills take their focus of attention to its young leading man, Zac Efron, as he portrays a 37-year-old man stuck in his own 17-year-old body. While most of the photos present Efron alone, some of them show him accompanied by co-stars, Leslie Mann and Thomas Lennon.

"17 Again" revolves around Mike O'Donnell. As a 17-year-old, Mike O'Donnell seems to have it all. He is a star athlete in his high school and gets a college scholarship. Still, rather than going to the college, he chooses to marry his high school sweetheart, Scarlett. After twenty years though, Mike realizes that his life doesn't turn out the way he imagines. He has separated from his wife, his kids ignore him, and his career is going nowhere. However, he is about to take an unimaginable twist of fate.

Unhappy of how his life turn out to be, 37-year-old O'Donnell wishes that he could live up his teenage year all over again and in a weird coincidence, his wish comes true but not in the way he expects it to be. Getting a second chance in life, he is transformed back to his 17-year-old self in the present time. With a 30-something soul trapped in a 17-year-old body, O'Donnell must find a way to get closer to his two teenage kids and win back his estranged wife before he really loses the best things that ever happened to him.

Zac Efron Put On Dancing Shoes in 'Seventeen Again'

Known for his dancing moves and singing skills in "High School Musical" series, the "Hairspray" actor Zac Efron is showing off his dancing skills once again in his latest comedy film "17 Again". According to MTV Movie Blog, the 20-year-old heartthrob will be seen dancing with cheerleaders in one of the Burr Steers-directed film's scenes.

"Seventeen" producer Adam Shankman revealed the spoiler to the music network site stating, "We have some very funny scenes between him and Leslie Mann from 'Knocked Up,' which are off-the-charts funny. But there's also this big thing with Zac dancing with a lot of cheerleaders that is very, very fun and funny." On the claimed to be hilarious scene, the producer further said, "Let's put it this way. I'm a dance historian, so you know the steps are going to be right on."

p.s you critics have absoluteley no respect. god bless those who thought it was nice. don't you have any repect for other people's feelings? do u know how hard they worked. zac had an operation and came back only to find out that u bastards were goin to bring him and his co-stars down. fine that u have different opinions but even if u don't like it u could have at least said it in a nicer way like" a bit disapointing or i didn't like it that much" how dare u and who gives u the right to say "lame high school comedy or petrified meatloaf" u know u wouldn't like it if they said stuff like that about u so next time try to think first. shut up, thin kabout who you're gonna hurt and try and put it in a less painful way. thank u
