Video Premiere: Westlife's 'Us Against the World'
February 18, 2008 11:02:24Westlife decided to put up their old photos for fans to watch on their new music video. The pop band premiered the video for "Us Against the World" that opens with childhood photos of the four members, Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Mark Feehily.
Their manager Louis Walsh made a cameo in it along with ex-member Brian McFadden although the latter was only in pictures, footage of old concerts and previous press releases. Rumor has it that creator Simon Cowell did not approve the first version of the video, causing the band to re-shoot it.

Westlife have pulled together their ninth studio album with a new video for its first single 'Home'. The song that is originally sung by Michael Buble is taken from their upcoming album 'Back Home', due November 5.
Apt to its title, the concept of the video is not far from 'returning home'. It is taken in an airport where people generally go home to their loved ones, or even parted from them. It was shot partly in Los Angeles and in U.K.

Regarded as one of best selling artists in late '90s, Westlife is confident that they can compete with Spice Girls' huge comeback. The Irish boyband will release their next album on the same week the reunited British band drop theirs.
Unlike Spice Girls' newly-worked record, Westlife's album has been baked in the studio for sometime and may actually be ready before the end of this year. However, now that the girls have announced their reunion, the management thinks it would be great to reignite the chart battle.

British new sensation Mika will write a song for Irish band Westlife. The exquisite and unique sound that Mika has written in his debut album "Life in Cartoon Motion" is hoped to bring freshness in Westlife's new album.
"Mika has given pop a good kick start again in the fun department and turned around many opinions that the scene had perhaps gone a little stale," a source told Daily Star. "Westlife have been around for nine years now and want to freshen up their sound so Mika is exactly the man to do that."

Nicky Byrne of music group Westlife is the father of twin sons. The singer and wife Georgina Ahern proudly announced the birth of their twins.
The infants, named Rocco and Jay, were born at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin at 9.55 am on Friday April 20th. They weighed in 5 pounds 11 ounces and 4 pounds 8 ounces respectively.

Westlife is still the darling across the pond. The Irish boy band leads the pack in the UK album charts Nov 26 with their "The Love Album". The boys' latest effort was the chart-topper, besting best of albums from some of the best bands in the world, including The Beatles, U2, and Oasis.
Oasis' "Stop the Clocks" is at the 2nd spot, ahead of the Beatles' "Love" at 3rd, and U2's compilation "U218 Singles" at No. 4. George Michael's "Twenty Five" is the fifth great album on the chart.

Take That comeback to music scene is proven worth with the music act hits the No. 1 slot on the UK singles chart Nov 27th with their track, "Patience".
It is the group's ninth chart-topper of their career. Their first chat-topper was "Pray" back in 1993. Thanks to their sell-out tour that the boys could finally climb to the top spot after landing at number four a week ago based on download sales alone.

Madonna apparently really deserves the predicate of pop queen. The singer has had her "Sorry" debuted in the top spot of UK singles chart on Sunday, marking her 12th British number one. In second place is Corinne Bailey Rae whose "Put Your Records On" pushes aside last week's chart topper DJ Meck's "Thunder In My Heart" into 3rd.
Debuted in 4th spot is Irish boy band Westlife's "Amazing", while the No. 5 seat is secured by Notorious B.I.G.'s "Nasty Girl" which falls from No. 2. In the meantime, Ordinary Boys falls three places to No. 6 with "Boys Will Be Boys," followed behind at No. 7 by Chris Brown's "Run It." Praised Nobel peace laureate ElBaradei for his efforts to save humanity from nuclear weapons, Hayek commented "ElBaradei said the largest threat to world security and all of our futures is (nuclear) terrorism. There is nothing more pressing right now than a global effort for peace and control of these materials. I don't think there is anything more pressing ... than the future of mankind."

Joint Masters of Ceremony for the Nobel Concert

The twosome has been slated to appear during the event for laureate Mohamed ElBaradei and the International Atomic Energy Agency he leads, organizers said Tuesday.
Joining them as the event MC among others are artists Gladys Knight, Duran Duran and Sugababes. Meanwhile, the likes of Westlife, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Colombian rock star Juanes and Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins are all expected to live up the event.

This is the second time that their single is number one, while the album attainment automatically pushes Robbie Williams' "Intensive Care" off the top spot to No. 2 as Rod Stewart's "Thanks for the Memory -- Great American Songbook Vol. 4" entering the charts at No. 3.
In the meantime, at number 4 in the album chart is "Living A Dream," which is another new entry by Katherine Jenkins. The Prodigy compilation album "Their Law - The Singles" falls three places to number five.
Westlife Tops UK Singles Charts

Now, the Irish boy band scores another record, their 13th number one hit, with their cover version of ballad "You Raise Me Up." With the single, Westlife successfully knocks the top of the British singles charts, sets aside last week's top track "I Bet You Look Good on the Dance floor" by rock band Arctic Monkeys to No. 2.
In the third slot of the charts is Sugababes' "Push The Button," which drops one place after previously spent three weeks at the top. British singer Kate Bush, in addition, makes her return to the charts with "King of the Mountain" from her first album to be released in 12 years at No. 4. Elsewhere, Robbie Williams' "Tripping" moves from number four to number five, though his album "Intensive Care" is still the king of the album chart.
Mark: "I am gay"

The singer said the time was right to let people know. "I'm not worried about how people react because I'm happy being who I am," he added. Also Mark revealed that his family and band mates were already aware of his sexuality.
