November 12, 2009 11:11:58All the winners for this year's Country Music Association Awards have been unveiled. On November 11, LeAnn Rimes announced host Brad Paisley as Male Vocalist of the Year. He pushed aside Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker, George Strait and Keith Urban.
Before another winner was called to the stage, Martina McBride and George took the mic. They performed "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool" as a tribute to Barbara Mandrell who was inducted to Hall of Fame this year.

Hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, it has revealed Lady Antebellum and Jamey Johnson as early winners at the event and added Darius Rucker as another victorious musician at the gala.
Darius who has performed a song called "Alright" once again came to the stage of Sommet Center to take the honor as Best New Artist. Naomi Judd and her bandmate from The Judds, Wynonna Judd, were given the duty to announce the winner. "It was 25 years ago tonight that we attended our first awards show, and to our surprise, it was our first award," Wynonna said. Naomi then invited Darius to claim his prize. "Well, come on down Darius Rucker," she said.

Taylor Swift, whose album "Fearless" has spent more than 30 weeks on Billboard Hot 200, receives six nods followed by Michael Jackson with five and Eminem with four each. The country music beauty is listed as one of the contenders for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Album in Pop/Rock and Country Music categories. Also, she is vying for Favorite Artist in Adult Contemporary Music.
Jennifer Nettles Cuts Off Her Hair in Sugarland's 'Keep You' Video
October 03, 2009 10:10:00Sugarland have a music video coming out on CMT to support their latest single "Keep You". Making its way out for viewing pleasure on October 2, it features the band's member Jennifer Nettles having an emotional breakdown and cutting off her hair.
"Keep You" comes from Sugarland's third studio installment "Love on the Inside" which secured number one on Billboard Hot 200 in its second week on sale. The song was outed to follow up mid-tempo ballad track called "Joey".
Sugarland's 'Love on the Inside' Deluxe Edition Tops Hot 200
August 13, 2009 12:08:21Sugarland's studio album "Love on the Inside [Deluxe Fan Edition]" reigns this week's Billboard Hot 200, putting aside last week's champ Fabolous' "Loso's Way" to number 10. The country duo's set sold around 76,000 copies.
This is the second time Sugarland rule the U.S. albums chart. They first sat at the hot spot of the chart with the standard edition of "Love on the Inside" which topped the chart after its second week on sale.

Brad's first victory came from Male Video of the Year category for "Waitin' on a Woman". "[Andy Griffith] was the perfect man to pass wisdom. He has passed wisdom his whole life to all of us. ... He has changed my life in so many ways, and to be on film with him, you can imagine what that would be like," Brad praised Andy for portraying the lead character on his video.

Sugarland were listed among the contenders of Video of the Year, Collaborative Video of the Year, CMT Performance of the Year and Duo Video of the Year. In the latest category, they received two nods for "All I Want to Do" and "Already Gone" music videos, facing off other videos from Brooks & Dunn for single "Put a Girl in It" and from Montgomery Gentry for track "Roll With Me".

"Thank you for dreaming back every time we dream," said one of the group's members, Kristian Bush during their acceptance speech.
Another winner at the annual event taking place on April 5 was Julianne Hough. The winner of Top Female Vocalist was called to scoop another trophy for Top New Artist, a new category that she competed with the winners of Top New Male Vocalist and Top New Vocal Duo or Group, Jake Owen and Zac Brown Band. "Thanks to everybody who believed in me," she told the audience when collecting the honor.
Video Premiere: Sugarland's 'Already Gone'

Co-written by the band's members, Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, the song lyrics capture a feel of life, freedom, and romance, which are similar to Dixie Chicks' "Cowboy Take Me Away".
The video mostly talks about being willing to take a chance and to risk failure for the benefit of life experiences. It starts off with Jennifer and Kristian, standing on the hood of old vintage cars with a sunset in the background. A young woman, who at the end of the video turns to Jennifer, is then captured, sitting on the driver's seat of the old car while holding a diary and taking an old family picture off the book. Recalling the past time with her family, the girl is filled with a sentimental feeling. The video continues with Jennifer, singing the tune, and Kristian, playing mandolin on one of the cars' hood.

Sugarland Founder Suing the Band for 1.5 Million Dollars
August 09, 2008 09:08:26Along with their growing success, band Sugarland are currently sued by former band mate Kristen Hall, one of whom created the band in 2002. She is seeking more than $1.5 million from current members of the group, Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush who have been previously reported to put their latest album "Love on the Inside" at number one in Billboard Hot 200 chart this week.
Kristen has filed legal document in U.S. District Court of Atlanta in late July with a lawsuit statement saying that "Jennifer and Kristian have acted in bad faith, have been stubbornly litigious and have caused [Hall] unnecessary trouble and expense." The lawsuit also said that from mid-2002 until late 2005, the trio have agreed to share time, effort, energy, and passion in order to make the band a creative and commercial success. In return for that, though Kristen has left the band in 2005 to pursue a solo career as a singer-songwriter, she will still receive any profit and income earned by the band. Beside sharing profit, they have also agreed to share any financial losses that might be suffered by the band in the future.
Miley Cyrus Beats Sugarland to Top Billboard Hot 200

Meanwhile, Sugarland who was closing in on Miley have to settle for the runner-up position after their "Love on the Inside [Deluxe Fan Edition]" only managed to sell about 314,000. Following the top two position is the soundtrack of the movie "Mamma Mia!" that managed to keep its last week's spot at #3 with 168,000 copies sold.

The Knoxville native joined two other aspiring artists, Jennifer Nettles and Kristen Hall to make one third of Sugarland, a country trio that broke through the mainstream with their single "Baby Girl" in 2004. The trio has received a Grammy nomination, plus several other notable country awards and the now-duo are vying for another with their latest release "Love on the Inside".
The new album is available in two different versions; the deluxe fan edition that hits stores on July 22 and the regular one which will be in shelves a week after that. The deluxe version contains 12 songs, along with five extra songs including the live version of "Life in a Northern Town" that they performed with Little Big Town and Jake Owen, plus a downloadable video content. Meanwhile, the regular one will include only the 12 songs.

"We're planning on recording in February, and if all goes well we'll see what we make," member Kristian Bush said. "As writers, you kind of let the songs dictate where you're going, rather than trying to kick it and punch it."

Sugarland is enjoying the full speed of their career as singer Jennifer Nettles announced that the duo is currently in process of another record. Apparently, they are used to writing materials in a short length of time.
"We started writing and it's much nicer this time," Nettles said. "We're enjoying the ride. Basically, we wrote the last record in about two weeks over the course of three months. We were really under the gun, time-wise. So to have a little bit more time is really a gift."

It's been 11 years and now the country music star is back. Reba McEntire is back on track. The singer will mark her comeback to the music scene with a performance at the 2007 CMA Music festival in June later this year.
Joining McEntire will be such top country acts, as Carrie Underwood, The Wreckers, Martina McBride and Sugarland. As of this year, the CMA Music festival will be held in Nashville, Tennessee on June 7-10. Proceeds will benefit the Keep the Music Playing campaign to promote music education in local schools.

The Game leads the pack in busy album release week. The California rapper occupies the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 with his sophomore effort "Doctor's Advocate" moved 358,000 copies in the United States in the week ended Sunday Nov 19th, according to Nielsen SoundScan. A significant drop off from the 587,000-unit first week of the Game's "The Documentary", the new album's total however was more than enough to debut the LP at No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
Meanwhile, hip-hop singer Akon debuts at 2nd spot with his sophomore album "Konvicted" sold 284,000 copies. The multi-artist hits compilation "NOW 23" falls to No. 3 after its No. 1 start last week, selling 194,000. Josh Groban's "Awake" slips two to No. 4 with 150,000, ahead of the soundtrack to Disney's former chart-topper "Hannah Montana" which remains at the 5th spot for a second week with another 114,000 copies. Keith Urban's Capitol Nashville release "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing" drops from No. 3 to No. 6 with 103,000.

The Sony-distributed set sold 337,000 units during the week ended November 12, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Classical pop singer Josh Groban's latest LP, "Awake" opens at number 2 with 270,000 units. Following behind at the 3rd spot is country crooner Keith Urban, who is now still in rehab, whose latest effort "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing" sold 270,000 copies. Another popular country act, Sugarland lands at number 4 with its second album "Enjoy The Ride" selling nearly 211,000 discs during its first week in stores.

The 41st annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards held Tuesday night May 23rd, 2006 saw the winning of several notable musicians. Among the many winners at the prestigious event, there was Brooks & Dunn who nabbed two awards all at once, one of which was for Vocal Duo category while the other one was for Song of the Year for "Believe".
Elsewhere, the Male Vocalist award went to Keith Urban and the Female Vocalist prize was given to Sara Evans. Besides them all there were also Rascal Flatts and Jason Aldean to mention some others, each of which brought home the award for the category of Vocal Group and New Male Vocalist. The Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart has a new champion as Carrie Underwood's "Jesus, Take the Wheel" has been replaced by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton's "When I Get Where I'm Going". This succession marks Paisley's fifth chart topper since "Mud on the Tires" held pole position the week of February 5, 2005. Meanwhile, it's the 25th No. 1 for Parton.
At No. 2 on the chart is Josh Turner's "Your Man", followed closely behind by Underwood's "Jesus, Take the Wheel" at No. 3 and Kenny Chesney's "Living In Fast Forward" at No. 4. Kristen Hall Leaving Sugarland to Write Songs
January 20, 2006 03:01:53Country music trio Sugarland is now incomplete as one of its member, Kristen Hall, decided to go separate ways to spend more time writing songs. Thus, it's becoming another job for fellow members Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush to find Hall's replacement.
Speaking on Hall's leaving, Nettles and Bush commented "Kristen has decided that she wants to stay home and write songs, and we support her in that decision." However, a spokesman for Universal Music Group Nashville, which includes the band's Mercury label, confirmed Wednesday Jan 18th that Sugarland would continue as a group and will open for Kenny Chesney on his tour beginning March 23 in Dayton, Ohio.
