February 15, 2010 04:02:51Rachel Weisz and Jude Law are the toast of London's West End again after winning the top prizes at the British capital's only public-voted theater awards. The pair walked away with trophies from the Critics' Circle Theater Awards in January with Weisz winning Best Actress for her turn in "A Streetcar Named Desire", while Law was honored with the award for Best Shakespearean Performance for his leading role in "Hamlet".
And the two Brits have won the Best Actor and Best Actress prizes from dedicated theater website Whatsonstage.co.uk, which asks the theater-going public to vote for their top performers and shows. Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart's sold-out run in "Waiting for Godot" was named Theatre Event of the Year.

Mark Shenton, chairman of the Critics' Circle, the body which votes for the awards, insists the pair proves Hollywood stars can flourish in the theater as well as onscreen.

While Davus is torn between his love for his mistress and the possibility of gaining his freedom by joining the rising tide of Christianity, Hypatia fights to save the old world's wisdom from the religious riots sweeping the streets of Alexandria.
Card Trick Clip From 'The Brothers Bloom'

Posted via Apple, the snippet is entitled "Card Trick" and lasts for more than two minutes. It centers on Rachel Weisz's beautiful and eccentric heiress character by the name of Penelope.
The clip opens with a shot of Penelope's hands straightening a deck of card before cutting it in half while her voice is heard in the background. "When I was five, I got really bad...rashes," she begins explaining her childhood condition to Adrien Brody's Bloom who is sitting across the table. As she continues recalling, she performs a card trick and reveals that her condition turns out being an error.

According to Variety, the 37-year-old actress is set to play Hypatia, an Alexandrian astrologer-philosopher struggling to save the collected wisdom of the ancient world.
In the movie by "Vanila Sky" writer Alejandro Amenabar, she will showcase her acting skill alongside Max Minghella, Richard Gere's co-star in "Bee Season". Additionally, the co-star of Hugh Grant in "About a Boy" will be portraying her character under the direction of Amenabar in the helmer's second English-language film following Nicole Kidman's "The Others".

Being selective in choosing stints for her acting resume, Rachel Weisz again takes dramatic turn in her next step as the lovely actress has signed on to star in Peter Jackson-directed "The Lovely Bones" which DreamWorks Pictures recently picked up to have it developed at its pit.
Pic is an adaptation of Alice Sebold's 2002 best-selling novel of the same name about a murdered fourteen-year old teen named Susie Salmon who continues to observe her family and friends from a personalized heaven after her death. Weisz reportedly will play the girl's mother, depicted in the book as a woman whose growing family frustrated her youthful dreams.

Keeps working on serious roles, Rachel Weisz reportedly has given her agreement to topline eco drama "Luna" that Deepa Mehta is set to direct for Baldwin Entertainment Group.
Inspired by a true life account of an American environmentalist named Julia Hill, the picture will depict the story of the woman, to be played by Weisz, when she came up to a resolution to live in a 1000-year-old redwood tree for 738 days in order to prevent loggers from cutting it down. Hill ultimately forced the lumber company to not only save the ancient tree, which she called "Luna", but also all trees in her area.

Another five notable names have been added as the presenters for the upcoming 79th annual Academy Awards. Producer Laura Ziskin revealed yesterday, February 14 that Rachel Weisz, Tom Hanks, Steve Carell, Penelope Cruz, and Cate Blanchett are all set to appear onstage to assume the role during the ceremony, joining the previously announced presenters like Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.
Honoring best achievements in filmmaking of 2006, this year's event will take place at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday, February 25 and be aired live by ABC at 5 p.m. PST (8 p.m. EST), beginning with a half-hour red carpet arrivals segment, "The Road to the Oscars."
