Nickelback Sign a 360 Deal With Live Nation
July 08, 2008 04:07:03Canadian rock act Nickelback have put their name among the top musicians list, such as Madonna and Jay-Z after the latest reports confirmed that the band have signed a contract with Live Nation. The rock act will be engaged with the famous 360 deal, that will give the company the rights to control the rockers' music, websites, tour and merchandises.
From the contract, Nickelback reportedly will be earning between $50 million to $70 million and are set to release three albums and hold three tours with the company. Commenting about the contract deal, the band's lead vocalist Chad Kroeger said, "The Live Nation deal helps us maximize the band's opportunities in all areas of our career. We are extremely confident that Live Nation's complete global team is the world's finest and we are excited to be a part of the Live Nation vision and future!"

In another dire week at music retail, DAUGHTRY, the band formed by "American Idol" contestant Chris Daughtry, successfully took the top spot of the Billboard 200 with their eponymous album sold another 65,000 copies in the United States in the week ended January 21st. This is the first time ever that the set hits the No. 1 spot in its ninth week on chart before previously debuted at No. 2 in November and not been lower than No. 11 since.
Coming next is Sony's "Dreamgirls" soundtrack, which secured the No. 2 spot, sold 130 copies less than that of DAUGHTRY's. Disney's "Jump In!" soundtrack followed close at No. 3 sold 57,000 copies, just one place ahead of Corinne Bailey Rae's self-titled Capitol debut at No. 4 on sales boost to 55,000. On the 2nd spot is Akon's "Konvicted" which remains on that position for a third week with 55,000. Next is Justin Timberlake's "FutureSex/LoveSounds" at the 3rd spot with 51,000 copies, ahead of DAUGHTRY's eponymous album at No. 4 with 50,000 copies. This is a new record on the Billboard Hot 200 after another. The US pop album charts sees the success of Miley Cyrus' "Hannah Montana" to climb at No. 1 this week.
