'Journey to the Center of the Earth' Gets a Sequel Treatment
March 13, 2009 02:03:32It's been a long time coming, but "Journey to the Center of the Earth Sequel", a second "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D" film, is indeed being prepared. The sequel will be developed once again by New Line Cinema, which will also co-finance the project alongside Walden Media.
Instead of going to explore Atlantis, like what has been suggested earlier, "Journey Sequel" is based on Richard Outten's script "Mysterious Travels: The Lost Map of Treasure Island". It will follow professor Trevor Anderson and his nephew as they embark on an adventurous journey to a mysterious island, which has become the subject of three classic novels, one in particular is Jules Verne's "Mysterious Island".
Seven Remain as Visual Effects Finalists of the 81st Academy Awards
January 07, 2009 11:01:49There are 7 movies left in the running for the 81st Academy Awards' visual effects category. On Tuesday, January 6, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that "Australia", "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "The Dark Knight" are still competing for the Oscar consideration.
Joining those three on the shortlist are "Hellboy II: The Golden Army", "Iron Man", "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D" and "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor". All these seven movies will be cut down into only three by members of the Academy's Visual Effects Branch after the 15-minute screenings of each movie held on Thursday, January 15.
Daniel Radcliffe Set to Portray Slain Journalist
January 02, 2008 12:01:38The leading actor of "Harry Potter" movies, Daniel Radcliffe, has been signed to play in "Journey". According to Observer.guardian.co.uk, the 18-year-old has nailed the part of slain photo journalist, Dan Eldon, beating out other major actors in Hollywood, including Heath Ledger, Orlando Bloom, Ryan Phillippe and Joaquin Phoenix.
His success of getting the part was reportedly helped by Eldon's family as Kathy, Eldon's mother, revealed that she has rejected numerous bids for film rights to the story before meeting the "Equus" stage star and his parents at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles. The journalist, producer and activist explained why she chose Radcliffe instead of the other notable actors eager to play the part stating, "We resisted a lot of older actors because Dan was a boy emerging into manhood."
