Dixie Chicks Pull Off Songs From 'The Lucky Ones'
September 12, 2008 11:09:24Country music trio Dixie Chicks decide to drop their six songs from the soundtracks of forthcoming film titled "The Lucky Ones" after they reportedly fail to reach an acceptable deal regarding payment with the movie's distributor, Lionsgate. "Unfortunately, the Lionsgate deal could not get done, so the Chicks decided to keep the song," the band's spokesperson says.
Following the cancellation, Emily Robison, Natalie Maines, and Marti Maguire reportedly give rooms for the songs in their upcoming album. Unfortunately, the titles of the tunes as well as the release date of the album haven't been announced yet.
Dixie Chicks' Martie Maguire Gave Birth to Third Child, a Girl
July 26, 2008 09:07:00Third time maybe is a charm for Martie Maguire and her husband Gareth Maguire. The couple, who are parents to two children, welcomed a new addition into their expanding brood when the songbird gave birth to a baby girl Friday, July 25.
And the happy couple are quick to announce the good news to public. The newborn infant is named Harper Rosie Maguire. She was born in Austin, Texas, weighed 7 lb., 10 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. "Martie is doing very well and Gareth and the family are over the moon," so read the statement on the official site of Martie's all-girl group Dixie Chicks.

Pop-rock act Crowded House added the excitement of their reunion with the announcement of new album. Under the title "Time on Earth", the first album in 15 years will feature the work of Dixie Chicks and Modest Mouse guitarist John Marr.
The Chicks helps in the writing of track "Silent House" which is also available in their "Taking the Long Way" album but in a different version. Marr penned the song "Even A Child" together with the band's frontman Neil Finn.

Climbing slowly but steady in the Billboard 200 chart is DAUGHTRY's self-titled debut album at 90,000. Closing the total number of copies sold at two million, this is the band's second non-consecutive #1 position and therefore is Soundscan's fastest selling debut album in rock genre.
The two times former frontrunner Norah Jones' "Not Too Late" is down to #2 with a total of 74,000, while Akon's "Konvicted" rises to 73,000 and claims #3 post. Last week's #3 tenant Fall Out Boy through the album "Infinity on High" falls to #4 at 67,000.

The final nominees for this year's CMT Music Awards have been announced Wednesday Feb 28th. Among them there are Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, and Carrie Underwood who are the leading nominees, with three nominations each.
As of Rascal Flatts, the American Country band vies for the categories of Video of the Year for "What Hurts the Most" and Group Video of the Year for "Life Is a Highway" and "What Hurts the Most". Chesney, in the meantime, is nominated for Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, and Video Director of the Year all for "You Save Me".

The Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart sees the victory of Justin Timberlake as the Jive Records recording artist scores his third No. 1 hit from his latest album "FutureSex/LoveSounds". The single, titled "What Goes Around … " bounces from No. 8 to the 1st spot in its 11th week on the Hot 100.
Follows in the footsteps of his two other hits "My Love" and "Sexyback", the video for "What Goes Around …" was recently released on iTunes, and during the first four days on iTunes, fans purchased and downloaded the video in excess of over 50,000 downloads and broke all records.

Norah Jones reclaims her position on the Billboard Hot 200. The singer returns to the top spot of the US album charts Wednesday Feb 21st, with her album "Not Too Late" sold another 211,000 copies for the week ended Sunday Feb 18th. "Not Too Late" is Jones' third album, a follow up to her second LP, "Feels Like Home" which was released in 2004 to high sales.
Following close behind at the 2nd spot on the chart is the late Gerald Levert's posthumous release "In My Songs" moves 165,000 copies. The "Grammy Nominees 2007" compilation, in the meantime, rises four places to No. 3 with 131,000 copies, while Corinne Bailey Rae's self-titled debut bounces five places to No. 4 with 120,000. Fall Out Boy's "Infinity on High", who was last week's chart topper, falls to No. 5 with 119,000.

Such famous names, as Beyonce Knowles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gnarls Barkley, and Dixie Chicks, have all been booked to perform at the upcoming Grammys. Their being inducted as performers at the prestigious event was being announced Thursday January 11th.
What interesting here is that all those performers are Grammy nominees as well. Beyonce is up for four awards, while the Chili Peppers is among the leading nominees with six nods. As of Gnarls Barkley, the musical duo vies for 4 awards, whereas the Dixie Chicks earn five nominations.

Bad news comes from Dixie Chicks. The music act has to, unfortunately, cancel several concerts on their "Accidents & Accusations" tour due to slow ticket sales.
What's different from the original schedules released in May earlier this year is that the gig will no longer include stops in Kansas City, Houston, St. Louis, Memphis and Knoxville.

Meanwhile, the 2nd position on the chart is secured by Los Lonely Boys' "Sacred" taking in another 67,000 copies, and Rodney Atkins' "If You're Going Through Hell" is at 3rd with 55,000 copies. His new live weekly show, "Amazon Fishbowl With Bill Maher," debuts Thursday night on Amazon.com. Guests include the Dixie Chicks, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and author Dean Koontz.
The show, which Maher called the "top-shelf television-style programming", will appear Thursdays through August 17. Each 30-minute episode will feature interviews and performances with artists whose wares are available for sale on the Web site.

Making a return to music industry after a 4-years-hiatus, Dixie Chicks is about to give their devoted fans a surprise. It is in the form of a new album. Entitled "Taking The Long Way", the album which all of its 14 songs were co-written by members Marty Maguire, Emily Robison and Natalie Maines, is scheduled for a May 23rd release date.
Was produced by the likes of Rick Rubin, Neil Diamond, Run DMC and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the new set among others consist song titles "Lubbock Or Leave It," "Everybody Knows," and "Not Ready To Make Nice." Following the release of the album, the music group reportedly also has planned to embark on a world tour that will kick-off this summer.
Dixie Chicks Targeting Another Tour

While the tour is still in progress, the country trio is working on its next Open Wide/Monument/Columbia studio album with producer Rick Rubin. No release date has yet been confirmed for the follow-up to 2002`s "Home," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200.
Dixie Chick Robison Has Given Birth to Twins

The first born was daughter Julianna Tex, weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces, while the latter son born Henry Benjamin weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces. The Dixie Chicks' Web site mentioned "Babies and mom are all doing very well."
To note, Emily and her country music star husband, Charlie Robison, have also had one son, Charles Augustus "Gus" Robison, who is now 2,5 years old. And the newly born twins, Julianna and Henry, have brought the Dixie Chicks' baby count to seven.
