'The Last Airbender' Pics: First Look at Aang and Zuko
May 22, 2009 11:05:00The first look at key characters of "The Last Airbender" has been shared with the publication of the film's two images by USA Today on its Friday's issue. One of the photos shows off newcomer Noah Ringer as main character Aang. The other one centers on the live-action Zuko, who is portrayed by "Slumdog Millionaire" star Dev Patel.
Accompanying the pictures, the paper included an article about the two actors. Ringer, who is a Texas native with a black belt in tae kwon do, revealed that he keeps his head shaved like his character. "It keeps me cool when I'm doing tae kwon do," the 12-year-old reasoned. "It's so cool to get the part." As for Patel, he fessed up of learning about "Avatar" series when filming "Slumdog".

May 05, 2009 09:05:11With fans taking charge to select the nominees of 2009 MTV Movie Awards, "Twilight" came up topping the nomination field as MTV unveiled its contending films on Monday, May 4. The Catherine Hardwicke-directed vampire drama scored seven nods from the eleven categories available, nabbing Best Movie gong as well as placing two of its actors, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner in Breakthrough Performance Male.
Those two categories aside, "Twilight" also garnered a Best Female Performance nomination for leading actress Kristen Stewart. It also earned the chances to win the golden popcorn for Best Fight (Robert Pattinson vs. Cam Gigandet); for Best Kiss (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson); and for a new category, Best Song From a Movie (Paramore's "Decode").
Dev Patel's Mom Confirms Son's Romance With Freida Pinto
April 28, 2009 11:04:17The alleged romance of "Slumdog Millionaire" co-stars, Dev Patel and Freida Pinto, has been confirmed by the actor's mother Anita Patel. "First it was the film and now everything else seems to have slotted into place," the older Patel has been quoted as telling The Daily Mirror.
"Life can't get any better for him. Freida is really beautiful and I am really happy for them," Anita continues. Asked if she is aware that her son flew to Jerusalem to meet Freida on the set of her latest film "Miral," she tells The Daily Mirror, "Yes, we knew he was flying to Israel to see her."

Both of them were seen acting like an in-love couple and she even put her head on his left shoulder.
"She couldn't help cuddling up to him. They kept staring into each other's eyes," an onlooker testified. "They were certainly acting like a couple, especially when she put her head on his shoulder. The only time they split up was when they left the bar and tried to act like they weren't together."

About the British heartthrob, the print media says now that he is famous he won't find any difficulties finding the girl of his dream just like he used to be. He is quoted by the publication as saying, "Last year all I was trying to do was get a girlfriend."
Also making the list is "Gossip Girl" actor Chace Crawford. The 23-year-old star is given the nickname of "The Boy Next Door". Dev Patel is the other actor named as one of OK! Magazine's Most Eligible Men. The "Slumdog Millionaire" leading actor is called "The Shy Guy".

"I play a character called Zuko who is the Prince of the Fire Nation," he starts off explaining about his character, "and it's good because it's a dark role."
"I'm not playing the hero, whereas in 'Slumdog' it was real character acting and performance-oriented," the star of "Slumdog Millionaire" then continues, pointing on the difference between Zuko and Jamal Malik. "This is [as well], but it's much more physical, with martial arts. I'm learning on the job, so this is a great new experience for me."

Of the matter, Variety reported the pop singer has to bow out from the project due to scheduling conflict with his touring dates.
Explaining McCartney's exit, director/writer/producer M. Night Shyamalan stated, "Jesse had tour dates that conflicted with a boot camp I always hold on my films, and where the actors here have to train for martial arts." The "Leavin'" singer was actually attached to Zuko character, who is the Fire Nation's evil prince.

Through the announcement, it has been revealed that "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" have dominated the awards as they each collected eleven counts, including nomination for Best Film.

2009 Evening Standard British Film Awards Announces Nominees
January 14, 2009 01:01:04Hot on the heels of the 66th Golden Globe Awards celebration last Sunday, January 11, British newspaper Evening Standard announced the nominations of the 2009 Evening Standard British Film Awards. On Tuesday, January 13, it was made public that "Frost/Nixon", "Slumdog Millionaire", "Hunger" and "The Reader" are among those vying for the awards.
"Frost/Nixon" and "Hunger" were both up for the Best Film title along with Joanna Hogg-directed "Unrelated". The two had also secured a nod for Best Actor category, Michael Sheen for "Frost/Nixon" and Michael Fassbender for "Hunger". "Frost/Nixon", in addition, had collected a Best Screenplay gong for its scribbler Peter Morgan, while "Hunger" gave its editor Joe Walker a chance to win an award in the Technical Achievement field.

Though a press release on Thursday, December 18, the indie movie about an orphan who gets the shot to be a millionaire from a game show has been revealed to be the one movie which collected most of the nods with six nominations.
One of the counts put "Slumdog" on the run for the British Film of the Year, competing with "Happy-Go-Lucky", "Hunger", "In Bruges" and "Man on Wire". Another one gave Simon Beaufoy, the film's writer, a Screenwriter of the Year nod. Two others
gave its director, Danny Boyle, a chance to win both Best Director and Best British Director titles, while the rest belonged to its star, Dev Patel, who received nominations for British Actor of the Year and Young British Performer of the Year.
