October 21, 2009 09:10:37John Rich of country music duo Big & Rich is about to become a father. His wife, Joan, is pregnant with their first child. The Boot is the first to report the pregnancy news and has obtained a confirmation on the matter from the singer's representatives.
No mention is made on how months along Joan has been carrying the baby. It is also not known if the expectant parents have found out the baby's sex and its due date.
2009 CMA Awards Nominations Outed, Brad Paisley Gets Most Nods
September 10, 2009 09:09:36Nomination recipients for this year's CMA Awards have been revealed at ABC's "Good Morning America" and CMT's studio in Nashville on September 9. Coming to GMA announcing the nominees were Darius Rucker and Lee Ann Womack. Meanwhile, the press conference in Nashville was hosted by Cody Alan and Alecia Davis with Randy Houser as its announcer.
Leading the nominations list was Brad Paisley who took home six kudos. He will compete in such categories as Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Music Video. Following Brad's domination were Keith Urban, Jamey Johnson, George Strait, Taylor Swift and Zac Brown Band with four nods each. Other country musicians who grabbed multiple nods include Kenny Chesney and Randy.

February 12, 2009 11:02:15The nominees for this year's Academy of Country Music Awards have been revealed during a press conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville on February 11. Announced by Julianne Hough, Kellie Pickler, LeAnn Rimes and Jessica Simpson, it was revealed that Brad Paisley and Heidi Newfield both led the pack with six and four counts respectively.
Brad and Heidi were up against each other in Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year. For the three categories, they were joined by such contenders as Miranda Lambert, Trace Adkins, Jamey Johnson and Carrie Underwood among others.
Big and Rich's Label Closed Down After Disappointing Sales
March 17, 2008 10:03:13Executives at Big & Rich's record label have come to a mutual conclusion that the recording house will be closed. Raybaw Records, an imprint of Warner Bros Records, has reportedly experienced a string of disappointing sales and therefore has to be closed down.
Although scoring a big profit from Cowboy Troy's 2005 debut album "Loco Motion", Raybaw had to swallow bitter pills in the subsequent releases. Troy, who also released his second album "Black in the Saddle" through the label last year, will switch to become the artist under Warner Bro's label, Billboard magazine reported.
Nominees of 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards
March 05, 2008 09:03:41Kenny Chesney rules way above his peers in dominating the Academy of Country Music Awards nominations. The country crooner who released his eleventh studio album "Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates" last year, receives as many as 11 nods while others go below seven nods.
Among the categories Chesney is nominated in are Top Male Vocalist and kudos for his album, single, video and song. Chesney, who is a reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year is again running for the same category this year and should he win the title again, he will be in tie with Garth Brooks as the prime academy winner in the category.
John Rich Going Solo While Big Kenny Recovering
January 26, 2008 10:01:11John Rich, one part of country duo Big & Rich, is taking sometime off from the band to record a solo album. Details on the album are still scarce but it is known that a lead single is scheduled for a Summer release.
Apparently, Rich decided to keep the creative juice flowing while his singing partner, Big Kenny is recovering from his injury that resulted from a car accident few years ago. "If anyone knows me, they know I'm always writing music," said the singer who is also assisting Jessica Simpson and Jewel Kilcher on their first country albums.
Big & Rich Taking a Break From Tour

According to Billboard.com, the singers and writers of 'Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)' will put the tour on the side for at least half of 2008. Allegedly, the decision was taken because Big Kenny was suffering from his previous car accident.
To Billboard.com, John Rich revealed that Big is still experiencing an upsetting long-lasting effects of a car accident a few years back. He said, "It's killing him. At the CMA Awards [in November] it was all he could do to get out there and get through it. It was hard for him to even hold his arm up to play the guitar."
Big & Rich Cancelled Show for a Little Girl

Big & Rich had to cancel their concert in San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino on April 12 after a young girl was banned permission to enter the building. The girl who is a big fan of the country band did not meet the requirement of '21-years-old and above' because she is merely 5 years old.
Though no dispute has occurred, the duo has left as many as 1,600 fans who were waiting nearly over an hour disappointed. They were told to refund their tickets after the cancellation was announced. Director of the casino Steve Lengel stated, "This was an unfortunate incident and caused great inconvenience for our guests."

BMI Honored Tim McGraw's 'Dying' Day

Also granted an award at the 43rd Annual ASCAP is Craig Wiseman of group Rascal Flatts who is given the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year prize for singles "In a Real Love," "Live Like You Were Dying," "Rough and Ready" and "That's What It's All About." Moreover, the Tim McGraw hit "Live Like You Were Dying," which Wiseman co-wrote with Tim Nichols, is named Song of the Year.
