311 Have Premiered Music Video for Single 'Hey You'
May 08, 2009 11:05:19311 have just put out a music video filmed to support their new single "Hey You". They are seen performing the song on the street behind a man who dances to the track while juggling a board, which read "Hey You", from one hand to another.
"Hey You" is one of the materials coming from 311's soon-to-be-released ninth studio effort "Uplifter". The single has been up for digital download since April 10, while the album will not go on sale across America until June 2.
311 to Release New LP in 2009
July 08, 2008 02:07:34After being busy with their tour and not releasing a new studio album since 2005, rockers 311 have announced that they will be dropping the follow up to "Don't Tread On Me" soon. The band confirmed the news in an interview with MTV stating that after finishing their current tour, they will hit the studio and continue the work on their new LP that has started since 2007 and plan to drop it in early 2009.
On the new album that is being produced by renown music producer Bob Rock, the band confirmed that they will return to their musical roots. Explaining the plan, 311's drummer Chad Sexton told MTV, "We've experimented a lot in recent years and shifted this way and that way, and with the current climate out there, with record sales, it could be a coincidence that [our sales] just went down, down, down because of the Internet, or maybe we've been too experimental. Maybe we should get back to the basics - the 311 basics."
Rock Act 311 Reeling in Snoop Dogg for 'Unity Tour'
April 02, 2008 10:04:39Reggae/alternative rock band 311 make an unlikely touring partnership with rapper Snoop Dogg. The two acts will embark on a jaunt aptly called "Unity Tour" this June with another rock act Fiction Plane in support, playing mostly amphitheaters.
The first date of the outing is set on June 24 in Phoenix while the latest announced schedule is August 3 in Austin, Texas. "Unity Tour" is actually a long running trek that has been conducted by 311 almost every year with supports of other acts. The name is taken from one of the band's early releases. Those who have been tagged along in the previous years include Matisyahu, The Roots and The Wailers.
311 Back to Rock & Tour
May 22, 2007 01:05:37
311 is back on the saddle with a new record and a series of performances. Revealing on recent interview, vocalist Nick Hexum said that the band, which is known very experimental in its genre, records this one 'back' to their usual rock sound. He also made sure that this one would not repeat the same mistake 2005's "Don't Tread on Me" did.
"I would say we kind of go through a general cycle of making a more straight ahead album that comes quickly and then we kind of rotate to more of a departure where we take a longer time making the album and inventing more new styles," Hexum said.
