Private Practice Episode 2.19 What Women Want

Unfortunately, as the song goes, you can't always get what you want.

Noah, the married surgeon who's been pursuing Addison with a vengeance, puts in an emergency call to her. But this isn't about romance. His pregnant wife, Morgan, whom Addison has been treating, has a raging fever. Addison diagnoses the expectant mother as having a kidney infection, which is thankfully easily treatable.

What's not so treatable is Noah's cheating heart. He swears he only called Addison in a professional capacity, but his eyes tell us a different story. Addison doesn't want to go down that road, but Pete-who, by the way, is making his way through every nurse at St. Ambrose-offers the 'helpful' advice, "He could be the greatest guy you ever had."

Pete's also treating Katie, a pregnant woman with a history of psychotic behavior. But she's on her meds now and ready to have her baby. Except, when Dell performs an ultrasound, it reveals that the fetus has died inside her. Even worse, Katie refuses to accept the truth. She swears her baby is alive and kicking and runs out of Oceanside. Oops, looks like someone needs new meds.

Then, Dell gets a visit from his ex-girlfriend Heather. She's finally off drugs and has a great job. However, that job is going to take her to St. Louis-and she wants to bring their daughter, Betsy, with her. Unsurprisingly, Dell argues that Betsy has to stay with him, but it looks like a fight he unfortunately can't win.

Back at St. Ambrose, Noah approaches Addison. Isn't he stalking her at this point? Anyway, once again he professes his undying love for Addison, who remains calm and professional. But, after the encounter, Addison runs to Madison to tell her she has to drop her as a patient with the excuse that she's too busy to keep running to the hospital. Morgan is heartbroken since she likes Addison so much.

Figuring he's lost his fight, Dell knocks on Heather's apartment door to see if they can't work out some sort of visitation schedule. He pours his heart out through the door, but nobody answers. When he peeks in a window, he sees that the place is devoid of furniture and people. Heather has stolen Betsy!

The next day at Oceanside, Noah has come to beg Addison to continue seeing Morgan. Is he sincere or stalking again? Again, Noah says he's in love with Addison, but that he can act professional and hold his emotions in check. Yeah, we'll see how long that lasts if Addison accepts.

Then, Violet has talked Katie into coming back to Oceanside. The woman is still delusional that her baby is still alive. When she vomits into a trash can, she thinks it's just morning sickness. The truth is the dead fetus is beginning to kill her, but she still refuses to let Addison take it out. Addison is ready to declare Katie incompetent and remove the fetus against Katie's will.

But the deranged woman runs into Dell in the hallway. They admire a wall of baby pictures from the practice's patients. Dell, who hasn't revealed that Heather and Betsy have vanished to anyone at Oceanside, finally opens up to Katie. Like Katie, he doesn't think he'll ever see his daughter again. And, like him, he thinks Katie just has to let go.

Katie doubles over in pain again and realizes Dell is right. Her daughter has died inside her. Finally, she allows Addison to remove the fetus.

Afterward, Addison returns to St. Ambrose to tell Morgan that she'll continue to treat her. Outside of Morgan's room, Addison admits to Noah that she does indeed have feelings for him, too, but she can never, ever act on them. Let's hope she can stick to her word.
