It's been five months since we last saw our Little Liars. And with Mona locked up in the Radley Sanatorium, they think their troubles are over and done with -- until Ali's body is stolen from her grave and Emily somehow ends up at the gravesite holding a shovel. Aria, Hanna and Emily find her there, slurring and unable to remember what happened that night. When they realize that someone called Emily from Spencer's phone, inside the Hastings house while they were all asleep, they realize they've been set up. They get rid of the shovel and go to the Hastings lake house with a note that they've been there all night. They are questioned by the cops and all stick to the safe story. But when they get a text from "A," they realize that while Mona is in Radley an "A" is still out there. This "A" texts the girls a chilling message: "Mona played with dolls. I play with body parts."
Meanwhile, Emily struggles deeply with Maya's death. Hanna secretly visits Mona. Aria and Ezra celebrate their anniversary. Lucas acts suspicious. Byron and Ella are no longer together. And Spencer goes to visit Garrett in prison, where he claims to have answers about who stole the body.
