AceShowbiz - Demi Lovato's publicist has dismissed reports the teen star's rehab stint was brought on by a penchant for self-harm. The Disney darling has pulled the plug on tour dates with ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas and the Jonas Brothers and checked into rehab for "emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time."

A source close to the star's family tells People the singer was bullied at school and the trauma of that has stayed with her. The insider says, "She fought through eating disorders and has struggled with cutting. Demi is taking control by getting help."

But Lovato's spokesperson has told Access Hollywood that 'cutting' is not behind the rehab stint. It's not the first time Lovato has been linked to 'cutting' - a former publicist denied reports she was self-harming back in 2008 when TV cameras spotted what appeared to be scratches on her arm. The publicist insisted the marks were from bracelets the star wore too tight.
