The country's electoral council officials disqualified the hip-hop star from the November elections - because Wyclef didn't meet residence requirements.

Jean initially accepted Friday's August 20 ruling, but then launched an attack on lawmakers on Sunday, August 22, branding their decision to stop him from adding his name to the ballot politically motivated. The "Gone 'Til November" hitmaker insisted he would appeal the decision, but the ruling is final and cannot be appealed, according to Haitian law experts.

According to Reuters, the former Fugees star was one of 15 candidates disqualified from running to succeed President Rene Preval.
