Shrek celebrates its 25th anniversary with a newly remastered 4K Ultra HD, Limited Edition Steelbook and Digital release on November 3, 2026, featuring 30 minutes of new bonus content.

AceShowbiz - Shrek is returning home for its 25th anniversary. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will release a newly remastered 4K Ultra HD and Limited Edition Steelbook of the Oscar-winning animated classic on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, alongside a Digital release.
The anniversary edition features a newly remastered presentation with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and includes 30 minutes of brand-new bonus content exploring the making of the film. The release showcases the voice cast of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and John Lithgow.
The film follows Shrek's quest to rescue Princess Fiona with Donkey's help and win back the deed to his swamp from Lord Farquaad. Shrek was the first-ever winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
The franchise has spawned three movie sequels, with another one on the way, plus holiday themed specials, a spin-off feature film and TV series, and theme park integration.
The new bonus content includes the featurette Origin of an Ogre, in which the creative team behind Shrek reflects on the origins of the animated classic and shares stories from the making of the fairy tale adventure. Additional extras include A Tale of Two Friends: The Art of the Quest, Spotlight on Donkey and Secrets of Shrek.
The release also packs ten short films, among them Shrek in the Swamp Karaoke Dance Party, Far Far Away Idol, Puss in Boots: The Three Diablos, The Ghost of Lord Farquaad, Scared Shrekless, Thriller Night, The Pig Who Cried Werewolf, Shrek the Halls, Donkey's Caroling Christmas-tacular and Shrek's Yule Log. Five episodes of The Adventures of Puss in Boots are included as well.
Rounding out the bonus features are deleted scenes including Fiona's Prologue, The Deal and Fiona Gets Them Lost, a DreamWorks Animation Video Jukebox, the Baha Men music video for Best Years of Our Lives, the Smash Mouth music video for I'm a Believer, and a Shrek the Musical "What's Up Duloc" segment.
Feature commentary is provided by directors Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson and producer Aron Warner. The film's producers are Warner, John H. Williams and Jeffrey Katzenberg. Screenwriters are Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, Joe Stillman and Roger S.H. Schulman. The cast also includes Vincent Cassel, and the film is based on the work of William Steig.
The 4K Ultra HD disc carries a PG rating for mild language and some crude humor and runs 1:31:00.
