Madonna surprises Coachella with Sabrina Carpenter, performing classics & teasing new album 'Confessions II'. Tour rumors swirl.

AceShowbiz - Coachella has once again proven itself as a hotspot for unexpected performances when Madonna made a surprise appearance during Sabrina Carpenter's set on Saturday, April 18. Marking two decades since her first performance at the festival in 2006, Madonna joined Carpenter to perform iconic duets of "Vogue" and "Like a Prayer," while also teasing a track from her upcoming album, Confessions II.
The surprise performance came shortly after the announcement of the new album's release date, set for July 3, along with its lead single, the trance-inspired "I Feel So Free." This unexpected collaboration fueled excitement among fans, sparking rumors of a potential tour supporting the album. However, when questioned by Variety about the possibility of touring following her extensive 81-date 2023-2024 Celebration tour, Madonna's longtime manager, Guy Oseary, remained non-committal.
"I'm not sure yet," Oseary told the publication after the Coachella show when asked whether a new tour was planned. He later clarified his remarks on X, emphasizing that he never said if or when Madonna would tour again was uncertain, but that “of course she will tour again” because she wants to share her music with fans. He added, "I want to see her happy, so whatever makes her happy, I'm all there." At the time of reporting, a spokesperson for Madonna declined to comment on any tour related to Confessions II.
Oseary also revealed that the idea for the Coachella collaboration originated from Madonna herself along with Sabrina Carpenter. "Madonna told me that she and Sabrina talked about it," he said, highlighting that the manager was not involved in the creative decision. During the surprise set, Madonna, now 67, wore the same lavender corset and lace-up boots she sported during her 2006 Coachella Dance Tent performance, creating a nostalgic full-circle moment.
The emotional performance included Madonna addressing the crowd, stating, "Twenty years ago today, I performed at Coachella. I was in the Dance Tent and it was the first time I performed Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part I in America, and that was such a thrill for me. So you can imagine what a thrill it is for me to be back 20 years later, so it's a like a full circle moment, you know, very meaningful for me."
Confessions II is a follow-up to the beloved 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor, which featured popular hits like "Hung Up," "Sorry," and "Get Together." The new album and the surprise Coachella appearance have reignited enthusiasm among fans eager to see what Madonna will do next.
Despite the buzz, no official tour plans have been confirmed yet. Oseary’s comments suggest that while Madonna is open to future touring, the details and timing remain undecided. For now, fans can look forward to the release of Confessions II and the possibility of new live performances to come.
Coachella’s reputation for surprise pop moments was certainly upheld by Madonna's guest appearance, which not only celebrated her historic connection to the festival but also offered a glimpse into her evolving artistry. With the upcoming album and ongoing interest from fans worldwide, anticipation is high for what lies ahead in Madonna's career.
