AceShowbiz - Law & Order: SVU has officially been renewed for its 28th season at NBC, TVLine confirms, ensuring that Captain Olivia Benson and her team will continue their work on the long-running crime drama.
This renewal announcement arrives on the same day that the "SVU" spin-off, Law & Order: Organized Crime, which streamed on Peacock, was cancelled after five seasons. While the spin-off's future has ended, NBC has yet to reveal the status of the original Law & Order series, which is currently airing its 25th season.
The upcoming 28th season of Law & Order: SVU will see the return of key cast members including Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, along with Aimé Donna Kelly and Kevin Kane. The series continues under the leadership of showrunner Michele Fazekas, who rejoined the production before Season 27. Fazekas also serves as an executive producer alongside Dick Wolf, Peter Jankowski, and Kenneth Brown.
In addition to the fate of Law & Order, NBC has not yet announced renewal or cancellation decisions for several other shows, including the comedies Stumble and The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, as well as the dramas Brilliant Minds and The Hunting Party.
