AceShowbiz - Violet Grohl openly acknowledges the "nepo baby" tag linked to her famous father, Dave Grohl, but remains unfazed by it as she builds her own music career.
The 19-year-old singer-songwriter told The Forty-Five that while her last name does open doors, she does not hide behind it or feel hurt by the criticism. "I don't care, I really don't," she said, explaining she has been hearing the label since she was 13. "So call me a nepo baby all you want. It’s 'whatever' to me. I just hope that eventually people will give me a shot."
Violet Grohl, the eldest daughter of Dave Grohl and Jordyn Blum, is preparing to release her debut album titled Be Sweet to Me on May 29. The anticipation has been building since she dropped the single "595" last month, accompanied by a music video directed by Nikki Milan Houston.
The album was recorded throughout 2024 and 2025 and draws inspiration from alternative rock bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Influences include the Pixies, Soundgarden, Cocteau Twins, and the Breeders, reflecting a sound she grew up listening to.
Violet Grohl expressed her admiration for the era’s music, describing it as powerful, authentic, and raw. She appreciates the messaging and visuals from that period and aims to capture that essence in her work.
As she launches her career, Violet Grohl remains focused on her music while openly accepting the advantages and criticisms her family name brings, hoping audiences will eventually judge her on her own merit.
