AceShowbiz - The upcoming Hulu film Pizza Movie offers a unique take on a simple premise: a group of college students attempt to retrieve a delivery pizza from their dorm lobby. However, the twist lies in the fact that the characters are under the influence of a homemade drug, making their seemingly ordinary trek down two flights of stairs an intense and surreal experience.

Directed by Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher, the movie premiered on March 13, 2026, and features a cast including Sean Giambrone, Gaten Matarazzo, and Lulu Wilson. The narrative centers around the college dormitory setting, which the directors credit as a pivotal breakthrough for the film’s development.

Initially, the concept was set in a generic apartment building, with young men in their twenties trying to secure a pizza delivery from the lobby. However, the filmmakers struggled to fully realize the story. According to director Nick Kocher, the idea evolved when they decided to place the action in a college dorm, creating a natural conflict through the presence of Resident Advisors (RAs).

"The RAs are a full Nazi metaphor," Kocher explained, highlighting how these characters serve as antagonists who provide tension and drama. He emphasized the enjoyment in crafting villains who are theatrical and love dominating the scenes with extended monologues.

This shift to a college environment introduced a built-in adversarial force, enriching the narrative.

Presented at SXSW by Deadline Studio and Redbreast Irish Whiskey, Pizza Movie is poised to capture attention with its inventive storyline and strong ensemble cast. Its release on Hulu marks another addition to the streaming service’s growing slate of distinctive original films.
