AceShowbiz - Kelvin Evans, a 40-year-old man from Atlanta, is confronting serious legal risks after declining a plea deal related to the theft of unreleased music belonging to Beyoncé. Earlier this week, he appeared in a Fulton County courtroom and chose to proceed to trial instead of accepting a five-year plea agreement.
By rejecting the deal, Evans now faces a potential maximum sentence of six years in prison if found guilty on charges including entering an automobile and criminal trespass. Prosecutors have emphasized their intention to seek the full six-year sentence, citing Evans’s status as a convicted felon, signaling a firm stance against his actions.
The incident in question occurred on July 8, 2025, during Beyoncé’s Atlanta tour stop. According to reports, Evans broke into a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer belonging to Beyoncé’s choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer Diandre Blue. The vehicle was parked on Krog Street.
The choreographer and dancer had left their rental car around 8:09 p.m. and returned less than an hour later to discover the rear window shattered and several items missing. Among the stolen property were two MacBooks, Apple headphones, luxury clothing, and hard drives reportedly containing unreleased material from Beyoncé.
Grant informed police that some of the luggage contained sensitive personal information related to Beyoncé. This theft was not a random act but appeared to be a targeted attempt to obtain intellectual property and confidential tour documents.
Law enforcement arrested Evans on August 26, and he has been held in Fulton County Jail pending legal proceedings. The stolen hard drives reportedly included watermarked files, allowing Beyoncé’s team to trace any leaks back to their source if the content were ever distributed online.
Beyoncé’s security team has faced breaches before, but this case stands out due to the involvement of unreleased music and private tour information, raising the stakes considerably.
Evans is scheduled to return to court on May 7, 2026, with his trial set to begin shortly after on May 11. With less than two months remaining before the trial, he and his legal team will be preparing their defense strategy as the case moves forward.
