AceShowbiz - Andrea Pavan is currently on a challenging path to recovery following a severe accident that occurred on February 25 during the DP World Tour's Investec South African Open in Cape Town. The professional golfer fell three stories down an elevator shaft inside a building, an incident that abruptly ended his participation in the tournament.
After the fall, Andrea Pavan was rushed to Mediclinic Cape Town Hospital where he underwent surgery on his shoulder and back on the evening of February 26. He shared an update on his condition two days later, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support he received. In a statement posted on X on February 27, Andrea wrote: "I would like to say a big thank you for all the kind words and wishes I have received over the last 24 hours."
The 36-year-old accidentally stepped into an elevator shaft entrance when no elevator cab was present, causing him to plummet three stories. This traumatic incident forced him to withdraw from the golf competition immediately.
Andrea Pavan acknowledged the difficult days following the accident and emphasized the exceptional care he has received from the hospital staff. He stated, "I now have a lot of rehab and hard work ahead of me but the care I have received so far from the Mediclinic staff has been incredible." He also highlighted the emotional support from fellow players, caddies, and staff who visited and reached out to him during his recovery.
His college golf coach, T.J. Higgins, provided further insight into Andrea’s condition, telling Golf Channel that the golfer was in good spirits despite the ordeal. Higgins mentioned that Andrea was thankful to be alive and was even able to FaceTime with his children from the hospital.
