AceShowbiz - Ray J is gearing up to introduce a key witness in his ongoing legal battle with Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner regarding the notorious sex tape that catapulted Kim to fame.
The singer’s attorney, Howard King, informed TMZ that if Kim or Kris continue to deny their involvement with Vivid Entertainment CEO Steve Hirsch in releasing the tape, their legal team plans to summon Hirsch as a witness to testify on the matter.
Earlier this week, both Kim and Kris submitted sworn declarations denying any role in orchestrating the filming, sale, or distribution of the sex tape titled Kim Kardashian Superstar. However, King alleges these statements are false and accuses the mother and daughter of lying under oath.
King asserts that Hirsch can confirm the extent of Kim and Kris’s involvement in the 2007 release strategy. He also issued a pointed warning to Kim, emphasizing that false sworn statements could lead to criminal perjury charges, which would jeopardize her ambitions to pursue a legal career.
It is important to note that for years it has been reported—and confirmed—that Vivid Entertainment could not have legally distributed the sex tape without consent from both Ray J and Kim. The current dispute centers on how much Kim and particularly Kris influenced the deal’s execution.
In her affidavit, Kris Jenner strongly refuted any claims that she participated in the “commercial exploitation” of her daughter via the sex tape, calling such allegations “absolutely false.”
Historically, Hirsch, who no longer owns Vivid, has stated in previous interviews that Kris was not involved in the sale of the tape.
Since October, Kim and Kris have filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J, accusing him of violating a confidentiality agreement. In response, Ray J countersued, alleging that they breached the settlement terms prohibiting public discussion of the tape.
Attempts to obtain comments from representatives of Kim and Kris were unsuccessful, as they declined to respond to inquiries.
