AceShowbiz - Fire Country is preparing for its fifth season with a new showrunner at the helm. Eric Guggenheim, who has previously led Magnum P.I. as showrunner and co-showrun Hawaii Five-0, will take over the firefighter drama, according to Deadline.
This leadership change comes shortly after CBS announced that Tia Napolitano, the current showrunner since the series launched in 2022, will not return for Season 5. Napolitano has played a crucial role in developing the series and its expanding universe.
CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios President David Stapf jointly expressed their gratitude, stating, "Tia has been instrumental in helping both build and steer 'Fire Country,' which not only became a top series, but is also the foundation of a growing universe. We're grateful for all her contributions and tireless work, and look forward to collaborating with her on future projects."
In a personal statement, Napolitano reflected on her time with the show: "I am beyond proud of the past four seasons of 'Fire Country.' All of my gratitude to our cast, crew, writers, producers, fans, and of course CBS and CBS Studios. It's been a beautiful ride!"
Fire Country stars series co-creator Max Thieriot as Bode, a convict who volunteers as a firefighter to reduce his prison sentence, working in his hometown of Edgewater. Since the show’s start, Bode has earned parole and now works as a Cal Fire firefighter. The supporting cast features Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Jordan Calloway, and Jules Latimer.
The transition to Eric Guggenheim's leadership marks a new chapter for the series, as fans and creators alike anticipate fresh creative direction for the firefighter procedural. Viewers are invited to share their thoughts on this change and their hopes for the show’s future.
