AceShowbiz - The BBC and HBO have unveiled fresh images from the upcoming six-episode drama series Half Man, featuring a shirtless Richard Gadd alongside co-stars Jamie Bell, Mitchell Robertson, and Stuart Campbell.
The new photos highlight key characters, with Robertson and Campbell portraying younger versions of Ruben (played by Gadd) and Niall (played by Bell), respectively. These images offer a glimpse into the intense relationship at the center of the series.
The plot follows the complex bond between two brothers, Niall and Ruben, who are not related by blood but share an inseparable connection. The synopsis explains: "One, fierce and loyal. The other, meek and mild-mannered. Inseparable youth. Brought into each other’s lives through death and circumstance, all they have is each other." The story takes a dramatic turn when Ruben unexpectedly appears at Niall’s wedding three decades later, acting unusually anxious and secretive. This triggers a violent event that propels the narrative through their intertwined lives from the 1980s to the present day.
Created, written, and executive produced by the Emmy-winning Richard Gadd, Half Man aims to explore "30 years in the lives of these broken men," delving deeply into themes of brotherhood, violence, and the fragile nature of male relationships.
Additional cast members featured in the newly released images include Neve McIntosh as Lori, Niall’s mother, and Marianne McIvor as Maura, Ruben’s mother. The ensemble is further enriched by Charlie De Melo, Bilal Hasna, Julie Cullen, Amy Manson, Anjli Mohindra, Tim Downie, Tom Andrews, Philippine Velge, Stuart McQuarrie, Sandy Batchelor, Piers Ewart, Scot Greenan, and newcomers Charlotte Blackwood, Calum Manchip, and Kate Robson-Stuart.
The series is helmed by directors Alexandra Brodski and Eshref Reybrouck. Executive production credits include Sophie Gardiner and Anna O’Malley, with Gaynor Holmes overseeing for the BBC and Gavin Smith for BBC Scotland. Mam Tor Productions is represented by executive producers Tally Garner and Morven Reid.
Half Man promises a powerful exploration of fractured relationships and the enduring bonds forged through hardship, set against the backdrop of decades of complex emotion and turmoil.
