AceShowbiz - Bruce Campbell disclosed on Monday that he has been diagnosed with a form of cancer described as incurable but "treatable." The actor took to social media to inform fans that he will be canceling upcoming fan events to focus on his treatment.
In a message posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Bruce Campbell explained, "Treatment needs and professional obligations don't always go hand-in-hand." He acknowledged the difficulty of the news but emphasized the importance of prioritizing his health.
Bruce Campbell wrote, "Hi folks, these days, when someone is having a health issue, it's referred to as an 'opportunity,' so let's go with that - I'm having one of those. It's also called a type of cancer that's 'treatable' not 'curable.' I apologize if that's a shock - it was to me too."
The actor chose not to elaborate further on his condition but stated that the announcement was made to prepare fans for changes in his professional schedule. Specifically, he mentioned that appearances, conventions, and work commitments will have to take a back seat while he undergoes treatment.
Bruce Campbell shared his hope to recover enough over the summer to support the fall tour for his new movie, Ernie & Emma. However, he confirmed that several conventions planned for the summer will be canceled, expressing regret over this decision.
Addressing his fans directly, Bruce Campbell said, "I'm not trying [to] enlist sympathy - or advice - I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out (which it will). Fear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-bitch and I have great support, so I expect to be around awhile."
