xaviersobased: Xavier [1-chance / Surf Gang Records]
Describing xaviersobased’s debut album as “long-awaited” might be an understatement. After two years filled with impressive mixtapes, EPs, and standout singles, it’s surprising that this rising star of New York’s underground rap scene hasn’t released an official album until now. The 20-track Xavier sets itself apart from previous works by featuring xaviersobased’s own production (notably on the lead single “iPhone 16”) and a carefully curated selection of collaborations. With contributions from OsamaSon, Yung Sherman, and Zaytoven, anticipation is high.

Shackleton: Euphoria Bound [AD 93]
British producer Shackleton has dedicated over ten years to elevating percussion to exhilarating heights. His label, Skull Disco, played a pivotal role in the UK dubstep movement during the mid-2000s, and more recently, he has collaborated with a diverse range of talents, from Tectonic’s Pinch to avant-garde artist Ernesto Tomasini. Despite the high expectations, Euphoria Bound uncovers new sonic territories, blending jazz’s experimental essence with heavy bass and ethereal vocals, creating a uniquely engaging soundscape.

Joyce Manor: I Used to Go to This Bar [Epitaph]
It has been three and a half years since Joyce Manor released their last album, 40 oz. to Fresno—the longest hiatus since their iconic self-titled debut in 2011. However, the new album I Used to Go to This Bar shows no signs of slowing down. Featuring the title track’s energetic mix of guitars and nostalgic hooks, the LP captures the thrill of their return to the stage following the easing of pandemic restrictions in early 2023. With production by Bad Religion’s Brett Gurewitz and contributions from Tom Lord-Alge, this album promises excitement.
