- January 5, 2026
AceShowbiz - Oxygen has officially renewed its flagship series Snapped for not just one, but two additional seasons. The true-crime network will be bringing back Snapped for its 37th and 38th seasons, along with a new spinoff titled Snapped: Killer Moms (working title). This announcement comes on the heels of other successful spinoffs like Snapped: Behind Bars (currently in its third season) and Snapped: Killer Couples (now in its fifth season).
In addition to the renewed series, Oxygen, which will soon operate under the Versant banner, has also commissioned a two-hour documentary titled Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift (also a working title). This documentary aims to delve into a chilling narrative surrounding three women who tragically lost their lives between 2001 and 2010.
The chilling logline for the documentary states, “From 2001 to 2010, three women — a newlywed, a college hopeful, and a young mom — were murdered in cold blood. Separated by thousands of miles, they shared one connection: they were all Hooters Girls.†This grim reality highlights the dangers associated with the job.
Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift is being co-produced by Expectation and Sony Pictures Television’s The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC). The project is led by showrunner Kevin Brennecke, with executive producers including Ben Wicks and Tim Hincks of Expectation, alongside Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman of IPC. The documentary was developed under the guidance of Amy Dallmeyer.
Snapped has established itself as Oxygen’s most-watched series and has consistently outperformed other original cable entertainment series in its time slot this year. The upcoming Season 36 is set to premiere on Sunday, January 4, at 6 p.m. ET/PT, and Snapped is on track to celebrate its milestone of 700 episodes by 2026.
“Snapped has long been a cornerstone of Oxygen, and we’re thrilled to continue the franchise with two more seasons while expanding its universe with Snapped: Killer Moms. Alongside the gripping new documentary Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift, these additions underscore our commitment to delivering riveting true-crime stories that keep audiences engaged and coming back for more,†stated Cori Abraham, senior vice president of unscripted content at Versant.
The series profiles women accused of committing “heinous acts,†as described by Oxygen. The motivations behind these actions range widely, from revenge against a cheating partner to the allure of a substantial insurance payout or the culmination of years of abuse, reflecting the diverse backgrounds and stories of the women involved.
