AceShowbiz - Haley Joel Osment broke silence following his arrest for public intoxication and unruly behavior. The actor, best known for his role in "The Sixth Sense," expressed deep remorse for his conduct.
"The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place," he confessed, referencing the January fire that destroyed his home in Altadena.
"But that's no excuse for using this disgusting word. From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage - I've let the Jewish community down and it devastates me."
Osment, 37, was detained on April following an incident at a ski lodge in Mammoth Lakes, California. During his arrest, he hurled a flurry of offensive remarks captured on police bodycam footage.
According to sources, the actor's erratic behavior began at a nearby bar where he had been drinking. Witnesses report that he became "aggravated" and "argumentative" after being cut off by bar staff when he spilled a drink. He then attempted to board a ski lift, prompting employees to call the police.
In the ensuing confrontation, Osment is seen repeatedly refusing to provide his name, instead shouting, "I'm an American," and accusing officers of attacking him.
Bodycam footage reveals a troubling series of events, including Osment's ski pants sliding down as he struggled with officers during his arrest. At one point, the actor is heard yelling, "I've been kidnapped by a f**king Nazi," and hurling multiple slurs at the police.
After being placed into the police car, he continued his tirade, "You're f**kin' with my life," and eventually calling an officer a deeply offensive antisemitic slur.
This incident marks not Osment's first run-in with the law. In 2006, he was arrested for misdemeanor drunk driving after an accident and sentenced to three years probation and 60 hours of rehab. More recently, in 2018, he was involved in a public verbal scuffle at an airport in Las Vegas.
Following his latest arrest, Osment faces charges for possession of cocaine and disorderly conduct, with his arraignment set for June 7. As the actor acknowledges his "terrible mistake," he promises to atone and expresses hope for redemption, even as he refrains from seeking forgiveness outright.
