AceShowbiz - A$AP Rocky looked back at his fashion looks over the year, including one from the 2023 Met Gala, during Vogue's "Life in Looks" segment. He acknowledged accidentally facepalming a fan while trying to navigate through a crowd.
The rapper owned up to his mistake during the conversation with Vogue. "To whoever that young lady was. Again, I apologize. I'm so sorry. I ain't mean to do that, sweetheart. My fault," he said.
The incident happened on May 1, 2023 when A$AP Rocky was confronted by a wall of fans while attempting to enter his hotel, The Carlyle. Desperate to avoid being late for the Met Gala, he used a nearby onlooker's shoulder to propel himself over the barrier, inadvertently knocking the woman's glasses askew.
The fan in question took the incident in stride, posting a selfie on Twitter with her oversized frames askew, captioning it, "A$AP Rocky just literally jumped over me." The rapper, acknowledging her tweet, replied, "LOL MY FAULT $WEETHEART" and followed her @youareasapmadz account.
Their interaction turned into a light-hearted exchange, with the fan humorously stating, "I'm printing this on a t-shirt" and inquiring, "Why is A$AP now oomf [one of my friends]?"
That year, A$AP Rocky made a grand entrance at the "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty"-themed Met Gala alongside his girlfriend, Rihanna. His attire for the event was a show-stopper: a white shirt under a dark blazer, a dark tie, sunglasses, black shoes, and a striking red plaid, high-low kilt over bedazzled wide-leg jeans. This ensemble was not just a fashion statement but a homage to Karl Lagerfeld's iconic style.
During the Vogue segment, Rocky expressed his admiration for Lagerfeld's elegance and described his outfit as embodying that spirit. He explained, "Sometimes I'm just embodying that spirit. Was just paying homage to his look at one of the shows that he did."
He further elaborated on his bold fashion choice, saying, "[We] kind of wanted to exaggerate the kilt a little bit so it could feel more grand. I was just like, 'Man, I'm going full throttle today.' "
The rapper also emphasized the importance of over-accessorizing done right, noting, "There is a lot going on, but it's actually well put together, yo. This is dope. This is when over-accessorizing goes right. This is how you do it."
