The 'Pink Pony Club' singer talks about dealing with pressures to talk about politics following backlash for refusing to endorse any candidate at the 2024 election.

AceShowbiz - Chappell Roan prefers not to talk about politics. During an appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast with Alex Cooper, the 27-year-old musician explained why she would rather steer clear of the topic.

"I'm a pop star. I wish I had the answers, I wish the president was a pop star, but she's not," said the "Pink Pony Club" singer.

Last year, Roan faced backlash when she opposed Donald Trump and refused to endorse Kamala Harris. "There is no way I can stand behind some of the left's completely transphobic and completely genocidal views," she said.

She later addressed this pressure in an interview with Rolling Stone, explaining that she doesn't "have a side because I hate both sides."

She doubled down in a sit-down with The Guardian, emphasizing the importance of critical thinking and voting locally. "There's problems on both sides. I encourage people to use your critical thinking skills, use your vote - vote small, vote for what's going on in your city," she stated.

Besides politics, Chappell Roan is also unwavering in calling out overzealous fans. She, however, clarified that setting boundaries with fans doesn't mean she enjoyed doing it, "It hurts that I have to … I know it really hurts people."

Nevertheless, she felt compelled to do so for the sake of her mental wellbeing, "I love admiration - everyone loves admiration. I just don't want you to interrupt me when I'm having a fight with my girlfriend. Don't be like, 'Can I get a photo?' when I'm crying, talking to my girlfriend. That's f**king crazy."
