AceShowbiz - Brooke Mueller, Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, got real about her complex relationship with another of Charlie's exes, Denise Richards. In an interview with People, she revealed that despite their close bond, "a little strains" have surfaced.
Mueller shared her disappointment at being "significantly cut out" of Richards' Bravo reality show, "Denise Richards & Her Wild Things" after spending two days filming her part. On top of that, she claimed she "wasn't paid a dime."
"When I see the episode[s], I'm not even really in it," Mueller remarked, disclosing that her attempts to contact Richards had been unsuccessful. "I have been trying to get a hold of her," she said, adding that they're "having a sister moment."
On the show, Mueller talked about her pet lizard, Godzilla, who died under Richards' care while Mueller was in treatment for addiction. "There was an accident, and he had gotten into something...," she said.
She clarified that "it's not [Richards'] fault" and that Godzilla's days were numbered due to his old age. "I had him for 30 years. He was almost six feet and an endangered species, no joke," she explained.
She, however, did feel frustrated by the rumors on the media. "What frustrates me is that all the headlines will say - 'Denise Richards rescues Brooke's reptile dropped off at her house, abandoned,' " Mueller continues. "And that's not the real truth."
Adding to the strain was a scene where Richards' daughters, Sami and Lola, claimed ignorance of their father, Charlie Sheen's, previous marriage to Mueller. "Their daughters say they didn't know I was married to Charlie, [it] defies logic," she said, adding that the kids "always call each other brother and sister."
Despite these issues, Mueller was grateful for having Richards in her life, "Denise has been the one, at the end of the day, no matter how messed up I've been, she's been the one trying to help me get off wherever I'm at."
She added that Richards has consistently gone above and beyond, even helping Mueller find housing during her rehabilitation stints.
Mueller referred to their relationship as a "trauma bond," likening them to siblings who experience internal conflicts but ultimately support each other through life's trials.
"We're almost like sisters, so there is sometimes some internal fighting. It's not always rosy... in fact, there's ways in which the bigger, more important things in life, she's always been there for me, always," Mueller concluded.
