Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has taken to the courts, not the field, in an intense legal battle against his ex-fiancee, Tia Jones, following their bitter separation.

AceShowbiz - Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy, 21, has launched a lawsuit against his former fiancee, Tia Jones, 24, accusing her of assault and destruction of property worth over $150,000.

This development comes just two weeks after Worthy was briefly detained for alleged domestic violence against Jones, charges which were subsequently dropped by the Williamson County District Attorney's Office.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Worthy claims Jones "schemed to abuse and extort him," leading to a series of damaging actions. The lawsuit details how Jones allegedly became enraged when Worthy asked her to move out of their shared $2 million home.

This request came after Worthy purportedly discovered, through a private investigator, that Jones had been unfaithful. Worthy states that Jones responded by physically assaulting him, scratching his face, and ripping out parts of his hair. Additionally, she allegedly destroyed his game room, scattering his belongings, including his prized gaming setup and the key to his Rolls Royce.

While Worthy was in police custody, Jones is accused of stealing a significant amount of his property, including $30,000 in cash, a handgun, and various pieces of jewelry. The missing items and the damage to the game room have been documented with photos submitted in the lawsuit.

In response to Jones' earlier allegations of assault, a Texas judge granted her a temporary protective order against Worthy on March 12.

In turn, Worthy has filed for a protective order against Jones. The lawsuit, filed on March 24 in Williamson County, Texas, seeks between $250,000 and $1 million in damages for the alleged destruction and theft.

This highly publicized case began to unfold on March 8 when Worthy was arrested on suspicion of felony assault. However, the charges were rapidly dismissed, with the district attorney opting not to pursue the case.

Worthy's attorney, Samuel Bassett, has declined to comment further, and Jones' attorney has yet to respond to requests for comment.

Worthy, who was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs as the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has made a name for himself as a critical player for the team. His promising career and personal life now hang in the balance as this legal battle continues to develop.

As this drama unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the complex and often volatile nature of personal relationships in the public eye. For those facing domestic violence, resources such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233) are available 24/7.
