During the Sunday episode of "The Baldwins" on TLC, Hilaria opened up, "I feel like it is unique for a stepmom and stepdaughter relationship." Despite the 11-year age gap and not raising Ireland, humor brought them together.

Hilaria placed immense importance on Ireland's approval when she began dating Alec. She recalled telling Alec, "If she doesn't like me, I am not staying," emphasizing her unwillingness to become a source of discord. "I [was] not going to be the wicked stepmother. My place in life is not to come into a family and cause problems."

Hilaria's respect for the existing family dynamics was clear when she added, "[Ireland] immediately welcomed me and we have never fought and it is so easy."
