AceShowbiz - Khloe Kardashian recently came face-to-face with ex-husband Lamar Odom for the first time in nine years, but her approach has sparked both criticism and sympathy from her sister Kendall Jenner.
The reunion between Khloe and Lamar unfolded in the season six premiere of "The Kardashians". The two, who divorced in 2016, interacted cordially, but Khloe firmly shut down Lamar when he referred to her as his "wife" and "babe."
Khloe's younger sister Kendall Jenner shared her thoughts about the entire ordeal. "It was interesting how cold she can be," Kendall mentioned in a conversation with Kylie Jenner on their reality show's March 20 episode. "It made me sad. I cried watching it."
Kendall empathized with Khloe's "tense" demeanor, acknowledging that she has never been through the kind of experiences her older sister has faced. Khloe's relationship with Lamar was marred by his past drug abuse, a significant factor that led to their separation.
"I've never been through what Khloe's been through, and she's been through a lot," Kendall remarked in a confessional. "But for her sake, I felt there was a level of forgiveness that was lacking."
This wasn't the first time Kendall noticed a "cold" reaction from Khloe towards an ex. She recounted Khloe's behavior towards Tristan Thompson, who had cheated on Khloe before their split in 2021. The couple shares two children, True (6) and Tatum (2).
"When Tristan and her got friendly again and were coparenting, she was kind of snarky with him around other people," Kendall observed.
Kendall hopes her sister can find it in her heart to "find compassion" for her exes. "I understand there are parts of her that are uncomfortable," she added. "You can forgive and not forget."
Khloe, reflecting on the reunion, explained why she remained guarded around Lamar. The relationship carried immense trauma for her. "For years, this was such the love of my life that to learn how to unlove someone, to have to go through all that, it's almost like a death," she confessed during the premiere. "Him calling me his wife, words are empty."
Further elaborating, Khloe stated, "I don't know this person anymore." The encounter was both "familiar and uncharted," a confusing emotional mix that she found difficult to navigate.
As new episodes of "The Kardashians" continue to air every Thursday, viewers remain captivated by the complexities of the Kardashian family's relationships and their very human struggles with forgiveness and closure.
