The upcoming 'Chronicle of Narnia' movie directed by 'Barbie' filmmaker Greta Gerwig is reportedly eyeing former James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, for a pivotal role.

AceShowbiz - Netflix and Greta Gerwig are pulling out all the stops for their upcoming adaptation of C.S. Lewis' beloved series, "The Chronicles of Narnia". Rumor has it that none other than ex-James Bond star Daniel Craig has been offered a pivotal role in the series.

Deadline uncovered the scoop that the "No Time to Die" actor has yet to accept the offer. While there are no official details on which role the star might play, speculation is rife and fans are already buzzing with speculation.

If Gerwig's first adaptation is "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe", the primary male roles available include Aslan, the majestic lion (most likely a voice role); Mr. Tumnus, the kind-hearted faun; and Professor Digory Kirke, the wise owner of the wardrobe.

In the last big-screen adaptation in 2005, these roles were brought to life by a star-studded cast, leaving big shoes to fill for the potential new cast.

"Sources stress that it is unknown whether Craig will ultimately come on board," reports Deadline, "but they do add that he does hold the offer." If Craig accepts the role, it would reunite him with Netflix, further cementing his relationship with the streaming giant following his role as Benoit Blanc in the "Knives Out" series.

The adaptation, with Greta Gerwig at the helm, is expected to make a tremendous impact. Riding high on her 2023 success with "Barbie", Netflix signed Gerwig to a two-movie deal to adapt "The Chronicles of Narnia". No official casting announcements have been made, but Charli XCX is reportedly in talks to play the White Witch, further heightening interest and anticipation.

Netflix plans to give the film an exclusive two-week IMAX global run starting Thanksgiving 2026, with the film finally arriving on the streaming platform by Christmas. This strategy deviates from Netflix's usual release tactics, perhaps signaling their confidence in the franchise's grand return.

The "Chronicles of Narnia" series, published between 1950 and 1956, has sold 120 million copies worldwide and remains a cornerstone of fantasy literature. Its previous adaptations, particularly the 2005-2010 Walden Media films, drew significant box office attention but didn't complete the seven-book saga due to waning success.

As young audiences everywhere wait with bated breath, there's no doubt that Netflix and Greta Gerwig's ambitious vision for the world of Narnia is gearing up to enchant and inspire a new generation.
