AceShowbiz - Daniel Craig, the former James Bond, shares his post-007 journey, which includes starring in "Queer", discussing his iconic role, and joining a roundtable with Hollywood's leading men.
Daniel Craig, after wrapping up his 15-year run as James Bond, had no concrete plans for the future. However, he has since starred in several films, including "Queer," which premiered in December 2024. Craig's casting in "Queer" stemmed from his performance in "Love Is the Devil," which had impressed the film's director, Luca Guadagnino.
While promoting "Queer," Craig revealed that he had become a different person since exiting the Bond franchise. He explained that he couldn't have done the film while playing Bond, as it would have seemed like a "response" to the role.
Craig's Bond journey, which spanned four films, was planned years in advance. After the premiere of "Casino Royale," Craig and Bond producer Barbara Broccoli agreed that he would complete the franchise in three or four films. They also decided to kill off the character in his final outing, "No Time to Die." Craig believed that Bond's death was necessary for the franchise to continue.
Despite reluctance from the studio, Craig and Broccoli secretly planned Bond's demise. The actor had initially faced criticism for his casting as Bond due to his appearance, but he approached the role with a "creative disruption" mindset, aiming to reinvent the character.
