AceShowbiz - Teddi Mellencamp, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star, recently shared an update about her ongoing battle with brain tumors. Posting on Instagram, the 43-year-old reality TV alum revealed that doctors removed more tumors than initially expected during her recent emergency surgery.
Mellencamp was originally prepared to remove two brain tumors, with plans for radiation treatment for three additional tumors at a later date. However, following the procedure, she disclosed, "In full transparency, more tumors were removed than expected: 4 in total."
She expressed gratitude, "This fight is not over, but that round has been won," emphasizing this emotional update with a selfie from her hospital bed and a scan highlighting the sizable tumors that had plagued her.
Mellencamp's health journey became public on February 12 when she detailed the severe and debilitating headaches that had prompted her to seek medical help. "Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization. After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least 6 months," she shared.
The reality star's candidness about her diagnosis has garnered an outpouring of support from fans, friends, and family alike.
In her posts, Mellencamp consistently thanks her medical team for their tremendous efforts in making her surgery successful and her recovery process manageable. "I am so grateful for the incredible surgeons, doctor, and nurses who made my surgery a success and my recovery process comfortable," she wrote.
Additionally, she highlights the irreplaceable support and patience from her children, family, and closest friends, noting, "The laughter, support, and patience of my kids, my family, and my closest friends is one gift with which words cannot properly express my gratitude."
Her struggle with brain tumors follows a years-long battle with skin cancer, having had numerous melanoma spots removed. It remains unconfirmed if these brain tumors are related to her past melanoma.
The fight is far from over for Mellencamp, who will need to undergo radiation to treat any remaining tumors. Despite this arduous journey, her resilience and openness provide inspiration.
"As I move on to the next steps in my treatment, I just wanted to say thank you to everybody for the outpouring of love and prayers. I see them, and they're definitely helping me stay strong," she concluded.
