AceShowbiz - Cher Lloyd, the 31-year-old singer who rose to fame on "The X Factor" in 2010, has made shocking allegations against her former record label. Lloyd claims that the label asked her to "seduce" Justin Bieber, then a teen, in order to boost her album sales.
"I was told to go hit some of the clubs and find out where Bieber is and try to get with him," Lloyd recalled on Paul Brunson's "We Need To Talk" podcast. "I was a teenager, and I was married at the time. It was very upsetting."
Despite her request for financial support to promote her album, Lloyd was allegedly denied. "I was told I wasn't good enough to invest in and that they would rather use me to hook up with someone famous," she said.
Lloyd's allegations shed light on the predatory practices that some record labels engage in. The singer also revealed that her team discouraged her from marrying her husband Craig Monk, claiming they would do anything to stop the union.
In addition to her record label struggles, Lloyd shared her experience with postnatal depression after giving birth to her second daughter, Eliza, in 2023. She described experiencing vivid visions of cars driving into her baby, along with severe anxiety, insomnia, and loss of appetite.
"Postnatal depression shook me to my core," Lloyd said. "It's made me feel like I can't imagine having any more children."
Lloyd emphasized the importance of seeking help for mental health struggles, especially after giving birth. She praised her GP for assisting her during her recovery. "I didn't know who I was anymore," Lloyd said. "But I'm in a much better mental state now. I'm proud to be a mother, even though it was the hardest time of my life."
