Lili Reinhart's brave disclosure of her struggles with disordered eating and body image while filming Riverdale sheds light on the harsh realities faced by many under the spotlight.

AceShowbiz - In a candid interview with Self Magazine published on January 22, Lili Reinhart revealed that she developed an eating disorder while filming the sixth season of "Riverdale". The 28-year-old actress, who has frequently discussed her battles with body dysmorphia and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), explained how these conditions intensified during the filming in 2022.

"I really don't like looking at season six imagery or pictures, because I know that 99% of my thoughts were about my body," Reinhart confessed. "I was a thousand percent just disassociated through that entire day or scene because my entire inner dialogue is just … 'Your body's changing.' "

Reinhart also opened up about her frustrating experiences with the pressure to conform to unrealistic beauty standards perpetuated by mainstream media.

In a social media post from September 2023, she shared, "My body dysmorphia has been going crazy because I feel like my arms need to be half the size they are currently? We've glamorized these skinny arms that, for most of us, can only be achieved if you're a literal adolescent."

The "Look Both Ways" star aims to help other women by speaking out about her struggles. "I truly wonder how anyone survives or gets through this life without having severe BD. Maybe it's a cruel amplified version in combination with my OCD, but damn. The amount of time I've wasted thinking about my arms in the last few months is insane,” she noted.

Lili Reinhart's battle with body dysmorphia and disordered eating highlights a pervasive issue in the entertainment industry. Her openness sheds light on the challenges many face, encouraging her fans and followers to practice self-acceptance and body positivity.

Reinhart's journey toward self-love continues to inspire. "My body has carried me through 25 years of life. All my scars, tears, trauma… I wish I could love it more, even when it doesn't look like it did when I was 20. But I am trying. I know my body deserves equal love and admiration at any size," she wrote.

In 2018, she publicly criticized Cosmopolitan's Philippines edition for editing photos of her and co-star Camila Mendes, and she continues to speak against body-shaming.
