The famed actor-director duo Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are poised for their next major project, bringing Erik Larson's intriguing historical non-fiction 'The Devil in the White City' to life.

AceShowbiz - Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are expected to reunite yet again as they reportedly commit to adapting Erik Larson's lauded novel "The Devil in the White City" into a film for Disney's 20th Century Studios.

This project, which examines the dual narratives of architectural marvel and macabre murder at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, has been in the works for nearly two decades.

The narrative orbits around the notorious H.H. Holmes, who is regarded as America's first serial killer, and contrasts his sinister acts with the grand efforts of architect Daniel Burnham, responsible for bringing the World's Fair to fruition. First published in 2003, Larson's book captures the juxtaposition of awe-inspiring achievements and dark deeds at the historic event.

It was Leonardo DiCaprio who initially acquired the rights to the book in 2010, with intentions to adapt it into a starring vehicle for himself. In 2015, Martin Scorsese joined the endeavor as the director. Despite these high-profile attachments, the project has seen myriad stages of development and cancellations, including a scrapped Hulu series adaptation with Keanu Reeves.

Now, under the stewardship of Disney's 20th Century Studios, "The Devil in the White City" is receiving renewed vigor. Presidents Steve Asbell and David Greenbaum, along with SVP of Production Sarah Shepard, are overseeing the project, which has yet to secure a script but possesses significant momentum. DiCaprio and Scorsese will add producing credits alongside Stacey Sher, Rick Yorn, and DiCaprio's Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson.

Scorsese and DiCaprio's fruitful partnership dates back to their first project, the 2002 film "Gangs of New York." Since then, they have delivered cinematic hits like "The Aviator," "The Departed," "Shutter Island," and "The Wolf of Wall Street." Their latest collaboration before "Devil in the White City" is "Killers of the Flower Moon."

As the project gathers steam, young audiences and cinephiles alike can eagerly anticipate what promises to be another captivating narrative brought vividly to life by one of Hollywood's most dynamic director-actor duos.
