AceShowbiz - Lily Allen has checked into a high-end trauma retreat following the collapse of her marriage to actor David Harbour. Her mental health has taken a significant hit since she discovered her husband's activities on celebrity dating app Raya.
According to close friends, the singer's emotional state sharply deteriorated after she returned to her marital home in New York City last week. The singer, distressed by the idea of her estranged husband being with another woman in the same city, decided to seek intensive therapy.
"It was very painful for Lily to return home," a source revealed. Another source added, "She wants to make sure she's feeling physically well again so she can be there for her daughters as the best mother she can be."
Amid his wife's struggles, David Harbour, known for his role as Jim Hopper in "Stranger Things," was spotted walking in New York City with his "Black Widow" co-star Scarlett Johansson. He was also seen with an unidentified woman at a temple in Rishikesh, India, having reactivated his dating profile on Raya some weeks ago. This deeply hurt Allen, who spiraled into emotional turmoil.
"People tend to think of him as TV's Mr Nice Guy, a great dad… but in reality, the way their break-up came about was not honourable or kind and has left her totally shaken up," a source confirmed.
Allen, who openly discussed her struggles on her BBC podcast, "Miss Me?", admitted that she experienced a panic attack over Christmas and fled a London stage play during the interval due to overwhelming pain.
The couple's five-year romance began after Allen published her 2018 tell-all memoir, with Harbour serving as her support system through her journey of overcoming addiction. Their low-key wedding in Las Vegas in 2020 suggested a happy union, but frictions soon became evident.
Signs of trouble in their relationship surfaced earlier this year when listeners of Allen's podcast noticed her talking about feeling gloomy and her husband's unusual requests in their intimate life. The omission of her wedding ring and the lack in mentions of Harbour in her conversations hinted at deeper issues.
Despite her rough patch, friends confirm that Allen has not relapsed into drugs or alcohol. The star herself insisted she did not fall into her old habits. While admitting that she needed a break because she's "spiraling," she said on her podcast, "I'm going away next week for a few weeks, but I do want to reassure people because there will be speculation that I'm going to drug rehab - I've not, I've not relapsed."
Allen's journey marks yet another significant chapter in her often troubled life. Fans and friends alike hope that she emerges stronger from this experience and finds her path to recovery.
