AceShowbiz - Chappell Roan, the 26-year-old pop sensation known for her hit "Pink Pony Club," recently took to Instagram to share her unfiltered opinions about a specific holiday-themed episode of the iconic musical comedy series, "Glee".
In a dramatic turn, Roan did not shy away from labeling the season 3 episode "Extraordinary Merry Christmas" the worst episode she had ever seen. "I hate it," she said candidly, adding, "Next," as she quickly turned off the episode.
Her critique was shared on the Instagram account she runs with her creative director, Ramisha Sattar. Almost immediately after, another video emerged on the same account, showing Roan seated in front of a brightly lit Christmas tree, jokingly delivering an apology at knifepoint.
In the clip, Roan, with scissors pointed at her by a person presumed to be Sattar, laughingly conveyed, "This is my apology video for the Gleeks that I offended. I am so sorry." She added a diplomatic note for the fans, "I love every episode of Glee, and I love Kurt and Blaine," referring to Chris Colfer's and Darren Criss' beloved characters.
This isn't the first time Roan has expressed her thoughts about "Glee". Ahead of a performance in September, she admitted she had recently started watching the series. "I just started watching Glee. I'm on season 2," she shared with fans, adding that it took her three tries to get into the show. She humorously elaborated, "‘This is stupid as f***.' And then I was like, 'Lean into it.' "
"Glee" cast member Kevin McHale caught wind of Roan's commentary and shared his thoughts on his podcast, "And That's What You REALLY Missed", with Jenna Ushkowitz. McHale agreed with her sentiment, saying, "To be honest, I think that's how I would've felt if I was not on it," and praised Roan's talent, "We love Chappell Roan. She's so talented."
Roan's playful social media presence and candid commentary come during a year of remarkable success. She closed out 2024 at No. 1 on Billboard's Top New Artists chart. Her debut album, "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess", soared to No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and she achieved her first top 10 hit with "Good Luck, Babe!"
Roan's entertaining critique and subsequent light-hearted apology have only endeared her more to fans, showing her as a relatable and humorous figure in the pop culture landscape.
