The wedded couple and his former wife put on a united front to throw a surprise for Kasseem Jr.'s 17th birthday and his new milestone that makes his parents proud.

AceShowbiz - Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz and Mashonda Karima Dean have put on a united front for their children. Recently, the wedded couple and his former wife celebrated their son Kasseem Jr. getting into New York University.

On Sunday, December 22, the 46-year-old record producer broke the news about his 17-year-old son's new milestone. Making use of his Instagram page, he announced that the young man, whom he shares with Mashonda, is officially a student of NYU.

Swizz Beatz, whose real name is Kasseem Daoud Dean, treated social media users to a series of videos. One of the clips showed Alicia, Swizz and Mashonda along with other family members throwing a surprise for Kasseem Jr. at a hotel.

All of them, who were wearing NYU hoodies, were documented standing a distance away from a door and waiting for Kasseem Jr. to enter the room. Once the door was opened, they exclaimed, "Welcome to NYU! Happy birthday!" Surprised, Kasseem Jr. jumped and hugged Swizz and Alicia before embracing his biological mother Mashonda while others were cheering on him.

Later on, a "Happy Birthday" song was being played in the background. They all sang along and danced to the song as they clapped their hands, showing their excitement. At one point, Kasseem Jr. got emotional. He was spotted seemingly wiping tears away from his eyes while smiling from ear-to-ear.

Another video, in the meantime, saw Kasseem Jr. sporting "NYU" merchandise, including a purple hoodie and a white hat. He also shared, "Beyond grateful for everything. Hard work really does pay off," before explaining the reason why he applied to NYU.

Along with the clips, Swizz wrote in the caption, "This is what we all do it for in real life. Today we celebrate the 18th Bday of Kasseem JR. We also celebrated him going to NYU. The amazing part was he didn't know he was accepted we saved the news for his Bday. Blessings to all the parents going hard for the future aka the Kids. Happy Birthday @yayachronicles we can't wait to see you take over King," adding a slew of cake emojis.
