Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company have announced production of a sequel to the hit 2018 drama film 'I Can Only Imagine' starring actor Milo Ventimiglia.

AceShowbiz - Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company are gearing up for "I Can Only Imagine 2", a sequel to the breakout hit "I Can Only Imagine". The 2018 film, which grossed over $83 million, chronicled the true story of Bart Millard, founder of the Christian band MercyMe.
Andrew Erwin, who co-directed the original with his brother Jon, returns to helm the sequel with screenwriter Brent McCorkle. Kevin Downes, Erwin and Millard are among the producers.
John Michael Finley reprises his role as Millard, while Dennis Quaid and Trace Adkins return as Arthur and Scott Brickell, respectively. The cast welcomes Milo Ventimiglia ("This Is Us", "Gilmore Girls") as singer-songwriter Tim Timmons.
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson notes, "We're confident that the combination of emotional truth and pure heart will connect with audiences." Producer Downes shares, "The success of 'I Can Only Imagine' led to the founding of Kingdom Story Company. We're thrilled to explore the rest of Bart's journey."
Ventimiglia has garnered critical acclaim for his roles on "This Is Us", "Land of Bad" and "The Art of Racing in the Rain" among others.
The release date for "I Can Only Imagine 2" has yet to be announced.
