AceShowbiz - Congratulation! Anneliese van der Pol, renowned for her role as Chelsea Daniels in the hit Disney Channel sitcom "That's So Raven" and its spinoff "Raven's Home," has tied the knot with her former costar Johnno Wilson.
Van der Pol and Wilson, who ironically portrayed ex-spouses on "Raven's Home," decided to elope rather than have a traditional wedding. The couple married in an intimate ceremony on December 11 at the Santa Barbara Courthouse, nearly a year after announcing their engagement.
"To be honest, the only thing that was important to me was that the exchanging of our vows and our commitment to each other be private," van der Pol shared in an interview with People. "My mother is no longer with us, and we didn't want to stress anyone else out about travel, lodging, etc. We're 40 and in love so that's plenty for me."
The duo first met on the set of "Raven's Home," where Wilson played the role of Garrett Grayson, Chelsea's ex-husband. Their relationship developed off-screen and led to a heartwarming proposal near a Christmas tree, which they shared with their fans via a joint Instagram post. In the caption, they humorously thanked Disney for bringing them together.
Although the couple initially planned a small ceremony in South Carolina, van der Pol's dream of eloping came true after Wilson landed a new acting project. "So I got my way. Yay," she joked. "I wanted to be on Johnno's SAG health insurance as soon as possible and I didn't want to miss the 2024 joint filing deadline! Romantic, I know."
Reflecting on their decision, Wilson expressed his joy, stating, "When we first got together, we didn't think about marriage. But at some point, we knew we were going to be together forever, and we wanted to combine our lives in every respect." He added, "She is my greatest support, a true partner, makes me belly laugh every day, and a total babe - so why wouldn't I want to marry her?"
For the wedding, van der Pol wore a dress found by her sisters for just $98, underscoring the casual and heartfelt nature of their union. The couple is now considering a belated reception in the spring and has tentative plans for a European honeymoon.
"I want Johnno to be a witness to my life, and I want to be a witness to his. He matches my silliness and doesn't take life or himself too seriously. I love that and need that so much," van der Pol enthused, capturing the essence of their loving relationship.
