AceShowbiz - The first look at the "Superman" teaser trailer has whipped up a whirlwind of excitement, with everyone eagerly dissecting every frame to catch even the tiniest hint of what James Gunn has in store. Garnering comparisons to when "Spider-Man: No Way Home" released its first sneak peek in 2021, this "Superman" teaser is certainly living up to the hype.
The trailer, though brief, packs in several intriguing moments. The Daily Planet, the iconic Metropolis newspaper, gets a significant upgrade, evolving into a more comic-accurate depiction. Key characters we glimpse in the newsroom include Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Cat Grant, Ron Troupe and Steve Lombard. Clark Kent and Perry White are conspicuously absent, but their roles are undoubtedly being saved for a more impactful reveal.
The Man of Tomorrow, depicted by David Corenswet, takes flight in a stunning sequence that mirrors the aerial thrills of "Top Gun: Maverick". Another key scene shows several individuals who seem to be Luthor Corp scientists, hinting at the involvement of Superman's arch-nemesis, portrayed by Nicholas Hoult. In a breathtaking final shot, Superman soars high above Earth's atmosphere, a visual treat that fans are eagerly waiting to see in full.
"I think that all previous DC media influenced me. I think that obviously, the original Donner movie influenced me, but there's also a lot of things that - this isn't like I'm just making a Donner-type movie. It's very different from that," Gunn remarked in an interview with ComicBook.com.
The film stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, with a stellar supporting cast that includes Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho. Milly Alcock's Supergirl will also make her debut ahead of her solo outing "Woman of Tomorrow".
Behind the scenes, James Gunn has rallied his frequent creative collaborators, ensuring the film stays true to his distinct style-blending epic action, humor and heartfelt moments. "The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we've shared together on set-and for that I am forever grateful," Gunn posted as filming wrapped.
"Superman", the inaugural feature of the newly imagined DC universe, promises to deliver a superhero driven by compassion and an unwavering belief in the goodness of humanity. Mark your calendars for July 11, 2025, because Superman is set to take flight on the big screen like never before.
