Instead of following the same tone as the newly-concluding 'Jurassic World' series, the new 'Jurassic' movie is expected to return to the roots of Steven Spielberg's original film.

AceShowbiz - 32 years after the release of the iconic "Jurassic Park" and three years following what seemed to be the series' conclusion with "Jurassic World Dominion", screenwriter David Koepp is set to revive the beloved franchise. Teaming up once again with Steven Spielberg, Koepp is leading the charge on "Jurassic World: Rebirth", aiming to capture the essence of the original 1993 film while delivering a fresh and exciting narrative.

Koepp, who previously worked on both "Jurassic Park" and its sequel, "The Lost World: Jurassic Park", shared his vision on "The Discourse Podcast". "I hope people like the movie because the series tended to change after [Jurassic Park III], and it felt like, ‘Okay, so let's change our tone,'" he said. "Steven [Spielberg] and I were interested in a tone that was maybe more akin to the very first movie. I saw it early on as a mission movie."

"Jurassic World: Rebirth" diverges significantly from its predecessors in the recent trilogy. According to Koepp, the film introduces a brand-new cast and storyline without contradicting the events of the prior films.

"Developing a limited team and a thing that they have to accomplish = that was all really fun," Koepp added. "You don't often get a chance to have a blank slate and say, 'What do you want to do?' There were no franchise expectations other than dinosaurs."

Directed by Gareth Edwards, whose past projects include "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", the movie will feature a star-studded cast. Scarlett Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a covert operations expert leading a mission to secure DNA from the planet's three most colossal dinosaurs, which promise life-saving medicinal benefits.

The ensemble also includes Mahershala Ali as the trusted team leader Duncan Kincaid, Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, and Rupert Friend as Big Pharma rep Martin Krebs. They're joined by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and his onscreen family, whose shipwreck turns their boating expedition into a perilous journey on a dino-infested island.

The film's synopsis teases a world five years after the chaotic events of "Dominion", with remaining dinosaurs confined to equatorial environments. These rare species hold the key to groundbreaking medical advancements. However, unexpected twists lie ahead, including sinister revelations on a secluded island.

Koepp's return to the franchise, combined with Edwards' direction and the thematic shift towards the original's tone, aims to reignite the magic of "Jurassic Park" for a new generation. "Jurassic World: Rebirth" roars into theaters on July 2, 2025. Stay tuned, adventure awaits.
