As 'Kraven the Hunter' faces bleak results at the box office and potentially marks the end of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, Ariana DeBose pitched a battle between Kraven and Spidey to 'give the people what they want.'

AceShowbiz - "Kraven the Hunter" has become another disappointment for Sony Pictures, as the film currently sits at a dismal 16% on Rotten Tomatoes and is facing a disappointing box office performance. This has raised concerns about the viability of the Sony's Spider-Man Universe, which includes films based on Spider-Man characters.
Despite the negative reviews, director J.C. Chandor and star Aaron Taylor-Johnson have expressed interest in returning for an adaptation of "Kraven's Last Hunt," where Kraven is pitted against Spider-Man.
Ariana DeBose, who plays Calypso in the film, has also advocated for a showdown between the two Marvel characters. "This is meant to be a standalone film and an origin story, but I do think Kraven deserves that epic showdown with Spider-Man," DeBose said. "Give the people what they want. I think they should do that."
However, the recent report that Sony is pausing the Spider-Man Universe casts doubt on the possibility of a Kraven vs. Spider-Man face-off.
Spinoff films centering on side characters in Spidey comics have received mixed reviews, with "Morbius" and "Madame Web" being particularly criticized. The budget for "Kraven the Hunter" is reportedly $110 million, and it would need to at least double that amount to cover costs.
While "Kraven the Hunter" may conclude Sony's Spider-Man Universe as we know it, the possibility remains that Sony could revive the franchise in the future. Additionally, there are rumors that Tom Hardy's Venom may appear in the MCU's "Spider-Man 4," potentially offering an avenue for Kraven to confront Spider-Man outside of the Sony project.
