AceShowbiz - The 2024 Billboard Music Awards sparkled with talent as two of the year's breakout stars, Shaboozey and Tyla, delivered show-stopping performances that left the audience roaring with applause on Thursday night, December 12.
Shaboozey, the 29-year-old sensation who's taken the world by storm with his hit single "A Bar Song (Tipsy)", made a grand entrance from the W Hollywood hotel. Dressed in a dazzling dove-white suit accented with sparkling brown cowboy fringe, he descended a white staircase and greeted a wave of energetic fans in an elegant ballroom.
Accompanied by a live three-piece band and a troupe of dancers, Shaboozey showcased his impressive vocal range, turning his performance into a spectacular event that stood out from the recorded version of "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" available on streaming platforms. For his finale, he performed at the ballroom bar as fans waved black and white napkins, creating a festive atmosphere before closing with a bow, showered in applause. Currently a finalist in multiple categories, including Top New Artist and Top Hot 100 Song, Shaboozey is on the brink of making history with his song, which has tied for the record of the longest-running No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
Next up, South African singer Tyla made waves with her electrifying performances of "Push 2 Start" and "Shake Ah". Donning a fierce zebra mini skirt, Tyla burst open a bathroom door to kick off "Push 2 Start", while dancers emerged from stalls amidst color-changing lights, transforming the ladies' room into an extension of the club.
Transitioning to her hit "Shake Ah", Tyla took control of the DJ booth on the balcony, sparking wild reactions from the crowd with her mesmerizing booty-shaking moves. Featuring Optimist Music ZA, who energetically joined her on the bar, the grand finale culminated in a confetti shower, delighting viral duo Pete & Bas as they cheekily enjoyed tea and scones within the party scene.
Tyla is a finalist in eight categories, including Top R&B Artist and Top Afrobeats Song, with her debut album "Tyla" achieving significant success. Her hit "Water" not only topped World Albums but also earned her a Grammy for the best African music performance. The deluxe edition of her album, released in October, includes "Shake Ah", "Push 2 Start" and new track "Back to You".
This year's Billboard Music Awards undoubtedly proved to be a spectacular celebration of musical talent, with Shaboozey and Tyla leading the charge.
